Hi everyone, I have just started this fascinating hobby. Although I have always been interested in astronomy, I never got round to taking part.

I've started with a Jessops 800 x 80 scope (seems to be good to start with) and a second hand pair of binos (8x40 £5). I now realise I need something decent to read, so I will be able to look at something other than the moon!!

Hi and welcome to SGL. Every one on here will recommend you get the book Turn Left At Orion. Luckily the brand new edition has just been released, so it will contain the latest data and information.

Im gobsmacked !!

Downloaded 'Stellarium' yesterday, found where Jupiter is, used my Jessops 800x80 scope with 20mm eyepiece + 3x Barlow, I very briefly saw Jupitor plus 4 moons...wow ! this is a first for me .
