Hi Shaun and welcome. Are you in an area of Northumberland far enough from the lights of Newcastle or is there still a bit of light pollution?

I live on the coast in Blyth so I'm far enough from the lights of Newcastle but still plagued by light pollution from my estate’s street lights - a lovely orange glow to the south and west, but I’m not complaining it could be a lot worse!

The last time I was in the Dordogne region, at a place near Domme, there was no light pollution to speak of, luck git!

Domme is a good hour's drive from me, being north of Bergerac, but local streetlights are not too much of a problem.

At least you don't have the Alcan site there anymore!
