Would we have seen anything with the naked eye?
Nope. It would have been about magnitude 11 or 12, and very low on the Western horizon as seen from Britain, so not much chance even in a 'scope. Perhaps the rain (pretty steady drizzle, hereabouts) is a blessing in disguise, at least it'll stop those anguished would-be asteroid-spotters writing angrily in droves to the Press, complaining "I didn't see nothin'!".

Remember the SN2011fe hype? :)

It's not actually scheduled to hit us, is it? :):)
