barkis
This is up for auction on Ebay, and I would like some feedback on the capabilities of this type of instrument. An indication of what a figure one would put on it. One bid so far I think. (Reserve not Met.) Collection only, but will accept payment on collection. John
I've no personal experience of this scope but there are a couple of reviews on this page:http://www.cloudynights.com/category.php?category_id=20&pr=2x6They seem to be generally good scopes for planetary and other high power work but the long focal length will limit it's usefulness for deep sky stuff.John
GazOC
I've got a scope with the same specs and its a good planetary scope, a GREAT lunar scope and I'd guess it would be good on double stars.A good alrounder it isn't though, due to the FOV it's OK on globs and planetary nebulae but then it's still only a 7" scope.EDIT:
Rob
I have to agree with Gaz here, its the FOV that would put me off. But bought as a 1 or 2 trick pony...no worries!!. I dont like private sellers on ebay though.

barkis
Thanks everyone for the inputs, and especially Gaz for the offer of personal intervention in the event of any shenanigans, That's a big word, and I don't think the spell checker has a hope. After a lot of soul searching, a final look in the wallet, and some earache from, ( Do I really need to say who?) I have been TOLD, in no uncertain terms, NO. Spring re- decorating is upon us apparently. CHUBS, where are you?. Thanks anyway, but the dream is officially dead. Ron.

Cloudwatcher
Huh! Funny lot them Vulcans. I'd much rather look through a new scope than at a freshly painted wall.
