Akyra
I've been moving my dob mount by picking it up using the handles on either side that hold the OTA on the top of the bearings. I dont really like doing this as I fear oneday they will break and my scope will fall and well... :tearyeyed: as you can imagine.I've tired grabbing it on the sides of the wooden uprights but its a bit awkward, and the handle on the front upright doesnt help whatsoever! How do you guys move it around? GazOC
When I had an 8" Dob I just used to pick the base and scope up in one go. One hand on the open end of the scope and the other just behind the primary. Doesn't work with a 14" though...... :D
FLO
If its a Skyliner Dobsonian, don't worry about using the handles, they are designed with that in mind.
Cloudgazer
I always pick my Skyliner dob up by the tension handle things.. can't see how you'd break em (famous last words ) by moving it around that way.Scott
GordonCopestake
I used my trusses as handles on the 12" lightbridge but that wont work with a solid tube. I would just use the bearings like Steve says, I doubt you'll do too much harm as long as you are careful.
