Comet Garradd 15th October 2011

Here's one of Comet Garradd from this evening. It's showing a distinct tail now, at about the 2 O'clock position on this image and extending right to the edge of the frame. Notice the little 16th magnitude galaxy in the centre near the right hand edge.

10 x 120 sec exposures. No darks or flats. SXVF-H9, 250mm f/4.7 Newt. Stacked in DSS.

Yes the tail looks quite subtle - must be difficult visually and a test of seeing conditions!
