Stacking moon pics question?

Hi all:

I'm wondering if one could stack raw dslr lunar pics? Hoping they could could be processed as 16 bit images.

Would there be advantages to this, and would Deepskytracker work?

not tried myself,but i see no reason why not.the webcam route is the most popular method,the same as planetary imaging,wxastrcapture and registax

Not sure how DSS would cope with lunar pics, with no stars to align. I've tried using Registax to align the jpgs and it grinds to a halt (don't think registax can deal with raw files). To be quite honest, I'm yet to produce results on the moon with the DSLR that are as good as mosaic'ed images using my Meade LPI, so I think yhou'd be best exploring the webcam route for lunar images.

DSS will struggle. I've tried registax, but never had any luck with full size raw or jpg. The only time I've had success is with about 30% sized tif's. I don't bother taking multiple slr shots of the moon now... just the one.

If I'm looking to stack moon shots, then it's get in as close as possible with a high frame rate camera (webcam size sensor) and do a mosaic.
