Hi All ..Desperate need of help please..a few weeks ago I bought S/H qhy5 to try out guiding. On receipt I plugged it into an existing setup using xp on pc and PHD ..It worked.Red light and picture.

Then disconnected it (just maybe erratically in a hurry )and stored it safely until now. Last night having bought new pc /guidescope tried it out again and nada!.

Installed driver (QHY5 ..64/32bit winUSB Driver - Update2011-7)

Acknowledged in Device manager (astroimaging)when plugged into PC

Tried to connect to PHD via loading "CCD Q Guider" .."no camera /problem connecting" message always appears.

No red light on camera ever appears.

Tried on 2 pcs ...xp and windows 7..

It seems completely dead now.

Might I have damaged firmware in disconnection previously?

Is there another way to check it out?

Dont know if it helps bit the Device is listed as ..USB/VID_1618&PID_0901\5&206AB252&0&1

Hope someone can help me please..

Thanks in advance

Norm from Catalunya

Hi Norm,

Not sure I can help much, but always good to see a fellow lurker in Spain!!

I'm pretty sure that the way you disconnected would not cause any problems to the camera. Have you tried re installing the drivers? I've had to uninstall and reinstall PHD before as well.

I know some-one who plugged his USB cable into the back of the camera when the USB was actually plugged live into the laptop and subsequently couldn't get it to work.

I think he sussed it out on this site

then used this one

Far too technical for me I haven;t even read them but I hope these might help.
