Messier Objects Information

Hi All,

I am having great fun working through the list of Messier objects but as a companion pointed out one night it's also useful to know what you are looking at. There are quite a few sites that give you information about each Messier object but they can be a bit long winded. Does anyone know of a concise guide of basic info about all of them, not RA dec etc, but information about what you are looking at?

M Object Wiki is pretty good. I know Wikipedia can sometimes be a little inacurate but from what I have read it seems to tie up with most other sites

I've checked and TLAO certainly does for some of the Messiers but not all.

As I've mentioned, there are plenty of sites giving detailed info eg Wikipedia, but I was looking for perhaps 2-4 pages of A4 max giving brief details about each.

I'm hols with my scope!!....ohh and the kids tagged along.

At a very dark site in West Wales with the closest street light being in Ireland!!, but of course the cloud wanted to come, got over a week here so one night must be clear.

If you type SEDS into google and go on their website they have some useful stuff. Have a look and see what you find

I will go along with Freff, the book is without doubt top quality, both in information, illustrations and art work, its a large book and also comes with heavy price tag, but well worth it IMHO
