Cambrian Mountains Observatory- update 3

Took advantage of the fine weather this weekend to construct the wooden frame of the observatory. The frame is made from 4"x4" tanalised timber. The uprights are in metal fence post brackets which are bolted to the concrete pads using 8" concrete bolts.

1) The frame base goes down.

2) The uprights go in.

3) The top cross members and other framework are fitted.

Detail of the 'joinery'- mainly heavy duty brackets.

Other work recently completed are some nice slate steps leading up to the observatory terrace.

All in all a productive few days!
