Well, it did arrive yesterday. Quite a nice surprise. I caught some great views of saturn from our terrace, and saw the orion nebula before it moved behind our roof. The light pollution's not too bad here in bologna, all the buildings here in the center are very old and the streets very narrow, so the lights are kind of in valleys below. Still I can't wait to get out of town though. And ofcourse I'm already itching for bigger and better. I gotta get some filters too. But, it's ok for now while I'm learning how to use the eq mount and stellar navigation. My girlfriend is going out of town next week and I'll be able to stay up all night without any repercussions. Even with this kinda crappy chinese setup, I'm having the time of my life. Any suggestions for improving my views? colin

He's American CC - they wear body armour and crash helmets to play rugby.. so a bit of banter should be nothing .

My girlfriend is going out of town next week and I'll be able to stay up all night without any repercussions.

If I had a couple of nights off mate I'd be up allnight too.. but I'd be out on the town instead - freedom doesn't come about that often so make the most of it .

Glad your scope arrived. My first views with my new scope were of Saturn and M42 too. Very jealous you live in Italy - my favourite holiday destination. Where I live in Suffolk there used to be a USAF base (Bentwaters). Whilst I miss all my old American friends I don't miss the light pollution from the aircraft landing lights!!!

Hope you have many more good viewing sessions and welcome to the forum - you won't go short on good quality advice here!!!
