Star Parties in the States?

Are there star parties in the States, or is it more of a UK thing?

There's loads of huge star parties in the states. Florida Keys do a big winter event and there's a massive one in Arizona somewhere. Best thing is to google it or query Wikipedia for initial pointers. Should be dead easy to find them

I find that there are many star parties but none in my region (or dates I can actually attend) since I live in an isolated community in the north of Quebec. I wish there were since there are times (besides coming to this forum of course) when feel quite alone with his passion.

the texas star party is one of the big ones that i know of but i think its a bit of lottery to get tickets
