  1. Does anyone know what size of screw fits in the threaded holes on the underside of the green Skywatcher Vixen dovetail?. Just got my new EQ mount and wanted to fit a safety stop. Trying to get used to my scope pointing up while in the home position. In my minds eye I keep seeing it sliding down and crashing on the floor 🙀.
  2. 12A ??. The rating for the HEQ5 is only 2A at 12v. If you increase the voltage to say 13v then the mount will draw slightly less than the 2A
  3. A warm welcome Jim, and you will find SGL a friendly place
  4. Nice detailed review you have done Cajun. I will have to look into maybe trying one myself, as I was looking at getting several of the Pentax XW range. I will wait for you to try a few more targets and see what you find. I could save a few pounds into the bargain
  5. Hi and welcome to the lounge. You have chosen well to start your AP journey 👍
  6. Yes it’s a pity that they are not being sold separately.
  7. I don’t know a lot about the Vixen LVW eyepieces other than them being a great eyepiece. There’s a set of six of them for sale on eBay which includes an 8mm and a 5mm .

    Wellcome

    Hi 👋, welcome to SGL
  9. The 16” certainly has my attention, but I just don’t have the room for a scope this size. Maybe one day 😴
  10. It’s due to the focal length being longer in the 30mm Superview and to a lesser degree the eyepiece characteristics.
  11. I have a pair of Pentax WP 20x70 binoculars that I use on this tripod and ball joint mount from Amazon. The quality is great and it’s very reasonably priced Amazon Basics 177-cm Pistol Grip Tripod with Bag
  12. That’s what I said. Disregard what I said.
  13. The 127 is a fantastic little scope and punches way above it’s weight. I love mine and I use it regularly
  14. If it’s a reflection then disregard what I have said regarding your mirror
  15. I’m talking about the inside of your little secondary mirror. The mark was made by cleaning the inside of that mirror. If you have used it and it’s all good then your fine
  16. The coating on the secondary can be rubbed off and it looks like that’s what has started to happen. I would be more worried about looking at the inside of this mirror to see if the reflective coating was damaged by the cleaning
  17. In that case Clive, your choice is the better option for you. I’m strange in that i prefer to be seated whilst using my 127 Mak, yet standing with my Dobsonian.
  18. I don’t look into it sideways. I simply take a half step back and semi crouch and it’s a straight through view. It’s the best for my creaky old back and it’s comfortable to boot.
  19. I have opted for a totally different position now. It doesn’t interfere with the RACI or the focuser, and it’s not on the other side. I had to put mine a distance from the front as I sometimes have to use a Astro essentials dew shield.
  20. I tried the magnets but I found that the finder slid too easily changing position. It gave me a better idea of where to position it though.
  21. When first upgrading my stock eyepieces I bought the 5, 8, 12, 15 and 25mm BST Starguiders. They are all great value for the money paid for them. The 8 & the 12mm are particularly sharp and the 25mm can be a bit softer around the edges in anything below f6. However it’s great in my Maksutov 127 f11.8. I also liked the solid build and large diameter eye lens. The cherry on top for me is the twist up eyecups which are smooth and remain in the position chosen.
  22. It’s a bug that they had with the James Webb telescope
