  1. Sounds worrying when they ask for crowd funding but more than happy to chip in. I’ve used it enough and also tried the stellarmate route but always came but to APT because it just worked for me
  2. Oh so you can place them almost random. I realised you don’t have to generate a grid but wasn’t sure if you needed to draw one in a similar way. i will give it a go though I’m feeling I need some more data to really get the whispy detail alongside NGC 6888. thanks
  3. He’s amazing! So clear and thorough. Covers almost every function too!
  4. Hi, I know generally with Siril you generate your grid in background extraction and take off any which may have nebulosity but what if there is more nebulosity than background? I’ve had a go at NGC6888 last night and the area it is in has a lot of nebulosity. I’ve had a go at using background extraction but don’t know if I’ve used it effectively enough or if I’ve killed off the background a bit. Any pointers would help, should I process without background extraction? cheers
  5. I always try setting up at least an hour or so before I want to start taking pics. More so that I’m not in a rush and know I’ve done every part of set up. Always a pain having polar aligned and got a target lined up to realise you’ve not balanced your gear or checked the wires won’t snag in anything
  6. I did M81 and M82 again the other night and went with 2min subs as the histogram was placed nicely to the left and the core wasn’t blown out. Did try 3 min but it looked too bright. with a 6” scope tho
  7. I got ps3 working correctly tonight and it’s been fantastic. So fast and all working!
  8. Are you guiding? Tracking? Neither? It’s a fairly bright galaxy so generally anything from 5mins and under is what I’ve done. 5mins really makes the core bright (bloated). Maybe 90-180 sec subs would be good
  9. Hi, anyone had it where they can plate solve no problem with point craft in apt but paps (polar alignment) just won’t plate solve at all?? In Point Craft I’m solving images in 20 seconds
  10. Buy a telescope, get used to it and into the hobby then make one in your own time eventually if you’re still tempted. At least you’ll find far more info on a mass produced scope in forums like this if there are troubles.
  11. Hi Calum! I’m West Sussex too! Not part of Worthing Astronomers are you?
  12. After 5-6 years I’m just getting started on the forums 😂 welcome!
  13. I know I’m bringing up an old dead post but I’m about to give an RC6 a run on my ES EXOS-2 PMC8. I’m confident the mount won’t struggle especially as it ships with 2x 5kg weights!
  14. I’ve not long swapped over to a QHY for guiding. Really performed well so far. Only thing I’d consider is a larger guide scope possibly, mines a mini one. Far smaller than say a 50mm guide scope. What size guide scope are you using?
