I have used my ASI-178MM with a 6" f2.8 Hyper Newt (420 mm FL) with good result. Single 180 second image. I would think a scope of around 400 mm to 700mm FL would be a good choice for many objects using the 178 camera.

And that was made with the guide camera !!!!

The first images are set to be released next Tuesday.....Looking forward to seeing what they pick as the first target.

I have bought and sold stuff on CN for years and I have shipped a couple small items to Europe. The main reason many sellers will only ship in the US is the hassle and cost of international shipping and import duties, VAT and Customs documentation etc. When you click on a user you can see their ratings and comments from buyers. I never take a chance on someone with no ratings unless the item is inexpensive enough that I can deal with the potential loss if they "take the money and run". I shop the classifieds here on SL and maybe someday I will see some piece of kit I "just gotta have". (^8

I turned down the saturation to make it a simple B&W image. It looks more like what we are used to seeing. If the orange is one of the colors they are collecting it will be interesting to see what the JWST color pallet will be.

Here is a recent picture of my Explore Scientific 127ED Triplet with a University Optics "80mm Kit Scope" for guiding all riding on an AP900GTO mount at my SRO dark site. I built a Todmorden pier for it to perch on.

Thanks Great analysis. I agree that thermal noise is not much to worry about. (^8 I got the +19.5 from the sensor temperature readout of Astro Art 8. That is also what is shown in the FITS header.

The new ASI432MM camera looks interesting with it's larger pixels and low noise.

Well....I did it again !!....while getting set up I forgot to turn on the ASI-2600MCP cooling. Here is about 4 hours of 5 minute subs on the Iris NGC7023 at +19.5C. NO Darks, NO Flats...just the data. The 2600 is indeed a special camera. I love this camera since it works even when my brain doesn't. 8^P

I had one of the Wegat Optical 127 scopes.....I regret having sold it in a moment of "aperture envy" )^8

The old CI-700 is not GoTo but I do have encoders and a DSC interface for pointing. The guiding tends to be quite good and it handles the 150mm Hyper Newt with no strain.

So maybe it is "Long Island Iced Tea" (^8

My AT60ED is one of my smallest.....it is a bit over mounted in this picture. (^8

I used one of those a long time ago and was amazed at how well it worked....that is why I was looking for one to buy.

I tried to find one of those many years ago but no luck....and they did not make the electric ones back then either.

I don't have one of those old school diggers so I went with this.....It makes short work of making holes even in the rock hard dirt of west Texas. (^8

"Thar she blows !!!" NGC4631 The Whale imaged from Rodeo, New Mexico in April 30 x 180 seconds (90 minutes total" ASI-2600MCP through an AT10RC on an AP900 mount. Captured and processed with Astro Art 8 and a touch up with Topaz De Noise.

Seeing is probably the biggest reason for soft and bloated stars.

This year we seemed to be fighting everything when we took our trip to the southwest corner of New Mexico. High fuel prices, wind, bad seeing, dust....you name it. This image of NGC3628 Hamburger galaxy is the first one I have processed so far. The ASI2600MC is over sampled with the AT10RC at 2000mm so I binned the image to reduce it to a good size for posting. I had to toss quite a few subs due to bad seeing and the occasional wind gust so I ended up with 30 x 3 minutes 90 minutes total. It took lots of processing to get the final image. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can with what you get. 8^P
