  1. Thank you. For ages I've wanted to image double stars and have now just made a start. They can be so alluring. Glad you like my images.
  2. Just for fun. Polaris - 21 x 4s - C9.25 XLT Albireo - 12 x 1s - SW 150 ED Star spikes added in Star Spikes Pro. You either love 'em or hate 'em. I quite like them.
  3. In terms of outright quality fewer longer exposures work better - just. However, , I use shorter exposures and more of them for two reasons- smaller and less bloated stars, and less chance of catching satelite trails. Sometimes as many as 25% of frames have them and they don't always dissapear completely during stacking.
  4. Thank you and yes you are absolutely right, cameras and software have advanced quite considerably. I could not have produced results like this just a few years ago !
  5. Well done, especially as weather stopped play. Happens to me very frequently !
  6. Thank you and yes only 40 minutes but it was at F/2.8. With UK weather as it is I've had to learn to tease results out of limited data sets !
  7. Third and last of my trio of images taken with the Sharpstar 130 HNT. Cloud stopped play after just 16 frames, so quality inevitably suffered. Sharpstar 130 HNT F/2.8 ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro Full Frame OSC 16 x 60 sec at gain 400 IDAS NB1 Tri Band Nebula filter Stacked in Affinity and Processed in Photoshop. Thanks for looking.
  8. Imaged in impossibly hazy conditions, it took a lot of post processing effort to get something close to ok. The autoguider was struggling to keep a lock, so star images suffered a little. Sharpstar 130 HNT F/2.8 ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro Full Frame OSC 40 x 60 sec at gain 400 IDAS NB1 Tri Band Nebula filter Stacked in DSS and Processed in Photoshop. Thanks for looking.
  9. Imaged in the hazy aftermath of the Saharan dust storm, so a lot of post processing trickery was required to secure an acceptable image. The Sharpstar 130 HNT F/2.8 is a cracking little scope that I am still getting to grips with in terms of back focus spacing etc. Been meaning to image this area for ages, so this is my first attempt. Think it needs an even wider field of view, so maybe a Samyang 135 next time ! Sharpstar 130 HNT F/2.8 ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro Full Frame OSC 56 x 60 sec at gain 300 IDAS NB1 Tri Band Nebula filter Stacked in DSS and Processed in Photoshop. Thanks for looking.
  10. Not bad considering the conditions last night. I was out there too - until the transparency reduced to impossible levels. The stuff we have to contend with !!
  11. Taken under slightly better skies than the North America Nebula image I posted earlier. Focal Reducer spacing at the standard 55mm, so needs increasing by a few millimeters to tidy up the corner stars. Quite pleased with it considering the hazy skies, moonlight, and limited integration time. Would love to bring out the faint dusty stuff but will have to wait for darker, clearer skies for that. Askar 107 PHQ at 524mm F/4.9 ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro Full Frame OSC IDAS NB1 Tri Band Nebula Filter 80 x 60 sec at gain 300 Stacked in DSS and Processed in PS Cheers, Roy
  12. At 11.30pm last night there was so much moisture in the air it was like imaging through fog. And so hot that even in a tee shirt I was uncomfortable. It was amazing that I recorded anything. But I apparently did. Still fine tuning the spacing for the 0.7 FR, so star images in the corners are not there yet. Reports say it needs to be closer to 60mm rather than the usual 55mm. Think it needs another millimeter or two. Reasonably happy with the result for now. Askar 107 PHQ at 524mm F/4.9 ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro full Frame OSC IDAS NB1 Tri Band Nebula Filter. 50 x 60sec at gain 400 Stacked in AF2 and Processed in PS As always, thanks for looking.
  13. Really interesting to watch regardless of equipment used. Well done.
  14. Not done any lunar imaging for months. As September is a good time to image the third quarter I stayed up late and captured some images in the early hours of today. Seeing was not good, with some thin cloud and turbulence. At least I got something. Celestron C9.25 XLT ZWO ASI 183MM - 20mpx Pro Planet 642 IR filter. 30% of 2000 frames at 19 fps 7 pane mosaic, and some selective enlargements from the main image. Processed in AS3 and Photoshop. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking. Roy
  15. Definately an improvement. I struggle with layer masks too. Maybe I should persevere with it more.
  16. Nice image. Wonderfully sharp and great colours
  17. I've had several attempts at trying to record the outer shells of M27 this year, and posted a couple of them here, but never really been completely happy with the results. This is my best effort to date. I'm sure there is still room for further improvement, but I'm reasonably happy with it for now. As always the lack of decent clear skies means I have to gather as much data as I can in the shortest possible time, so image quality suffers. Not much we can do about the weather. Vital stats as follows :- Celestron 8" F/10 Edge HD ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro SW CQ350 mount IDAS NB! Tri Band Filter 34 x 120s at gain 400 Stacked in Affinity Photo and processed in Photoshop. SQM 20.49 Thanks for looking.
  18. I know that feeling well ! Astro imaging has a very steep learning curve, but you don't have to have exotic equipment or hours and hours of exposure time to get results, as I hope my image shows. But it has taken many frustrating years of failure to get to the point where I can say 'I think I'm getting the hang of this'. So stick with it and you will get there. There are lots of knowledgeable people on this forum who will be only too glad to offer assistance if you need it. Roy
  19. Typical - part way into an imaging run and the clouds roll in. However, I was amazed at how much nebulosity was recorded in just 35 minutes exposure time at F/10, which is why I am posting this image. It won't win any prizes in the ultimate quality stakes ! Celestron C9.25 XLT with TS field flattener. ZWO ASI 6200 MC Pro Full Frame OSC IDAS NB1 Tri Band Nebula Filter. 35 x 60 sec at gain 400. Stacked in Affinity Photo. Lots of faffing about in Photoshop. Hope you find it interesting and thanks for looking.
  20. Love it. Really like the delicate shades and colours. Well done
  21. Thank you Peter. Oh for clearer skies and more integration time !
