  1. Many thanks Jeremy. I hadn't realised until yesterday as I'd not download my digital copy, lol. Nice though. Hopefully adding Cak to the HA in the New Year. Just love it, lol.
  2. Here's the screen shots from the digital copy I have. Articles under Ella Bryant as I'm known by that there. Long story but involves Nigella Lawson, lol.
  3. Only just found out I've two solar image's published in two articles in the October BAA journal too, lol. I only have the digital subscription so they're kindly sending me a copy.
  4. Hi all, thought this article on observing the sun would be of value to those wishing to observe the sun. Proviso, use appropriate solar filters, your eyesight is priceless. http://www.astrosurf.com/luxorion/Media/sun-book-ch2-jenkins.pdf
  5. I'm a numpty, it's in the title, lol.
  6. Looking lovely, not easy building an obsy. What are you going to name it at the naming ceremony?
  7. Thanks badhex. I find the Sun fascinating and as activity increases now we're passed solar minimum it'll become even more dramatic over the coming years. Of course you don't loose any sleep either which I like, lol.
  8. Welcome to the forum and have fun with your renewal of this fascinating hobby.
  9. So true Highburymark, always a place for non-imagers.
  10. Price second hand depends on age. My 11inch XLT SCT with carbon optical tube was under half the cost of a new one at £900. Bought using astrobuysell UK.
  11. It's my most used scope. I did manage to get all my kit second hand which helps financially.
  12. Thanks Luke, na, I'll not forget this lovely forum and it's lovely people. It's this forum where I've developed my solar imaging/observation skills. So I'm here to stay and help others if wanted.
  13. Thanks, only just realising that, lol. It's a honour then, lol.
  14. Awwww, you must post Dave. It's a great place for specific solar imaging/observations.
  15. Hi all, I belong to a specific solar forum and saw today that one of my images has made the pic of the day.
  16. The best telescope you buy is the one you use most. It's an old saying. I've an 11inch SCT, an 12inch f4 Newtonian and a Lunt 60mm Double Stack solar scope. The Lunt is my most used scope strangely though. I guess it's because I'm awake during the day and easily see those rare breaks of clear skies whereas if I'm in bed or asleep I don't, lol.
  17. Hi all, I'm considering adding Cak imaging to my HA telescope. Would a 90/100mm achromatic refractor suffice or would it be better to get an ED?
  18. Good progress, be worth it in the end.
  19. No worries Rusted, not offended, I was only saying what I had to do with an eight year old Lunt focuser.
  20. You shouldn't need to use the locking screw to keep the drawtube from slipping. As said, that's just to lock the drawtube in place when focussed if using heavy cameras, etc. You may need to take the focuser apart as I had to. In my crayford focuser the screws on the inner plate had worked loose and needed tightening but this was after eight years of use so not sure if this could be your reason. Only way to see is to disassemble the focuser. I'm not saying you should do that as it may invalidate any warranty if messed with.
  21. I had to adjust the focuser on mine but it is eight years old. The focuser kept slipping which sounds like your problem. I did upload pics of the focuser on SGL. However mine is the ordinary crayford focuser. Focus shift on lunt 60mm Crayford. By Nigella Bryant, June 12 in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
