  1. The Solar System by Aston Smith, aged 8 🙂 If you want to know about the Sun, planets and other objects in our solar system, Aston's fact filled book is a wonderful guide! A great resource for kids (and adults) wanting to learn about space and our solar system. Includes hand drawn illustrations and photos of the planets. Aston is a keen astronomer with a fascination for space. So much so, that at the age of only 8 years old, he decided to write and publish a book containing facts and information about our solar system. Living with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Aston has found researching and creating his book challenging and satisfying. Space and the universe fascinates him. It provides focus and a welcome calm to his chaotic mind. Thank-you to @Skipper Billy for bringing this marvellous book to our attention.
  2. It would, wouldn't it 🙂 We contacted Aston's parents when Skipper Billy bought him to our attention. His book is now available to buy at FLO. The Solar System by Aston Smith Steve

  12. I find the psychology in this discussion interesting because I recently experienced the same. At home we are upgrading our XBOX One games console to the newly released Series X. Unfortunately to experience the new consoles full potential we also need a new TV! For three days I read articles, reviews, reports and opinion, trying to convince myself that TVs suitable for gaming all use the same screens (mostly LG or Samsung) so I could simply buy whichever was cheapest. I wanted to believe quality and design of ancillary components, firmware and system integration didn’t matter. If I could persuade myself of this, I would save around £500! I failed. Saying didn’t make it so. It was wishful thinking. The knowledge, experience and manufacturing abilities of brands like LG, Samsung & Sony does result in a better product. Now I must decide if this matters to me. Am I prepared to spend the extra. Steve
  13. So far, here in the UK we have never seen oil on a 2600 sensor 🙂 Steve
  14. Our product descriptions for StellaLyra SuperView eyepieces were recently updated so AFOVs quoted are: 15, 20 & 30mm 68 degrees. 42mm 58 degrees. 50mm 48 degrees. We will update spec’s in Astronomy Tools soon. HTH, Steve
  15. That is good to hear 🙂 Here in the UK if a sensor needs cleaning we will happily arrange that, assuming it is one of ours. Steve
  16. Sorry to hear that but no problem, when you are ready please email to arrange return 🙂 When we added these eyepieces to our website we knew they were long established so didn't think to check specifications. We were not expecting them to attract so much discussion and debate. We will over time properly assess the AFOV of each eyepiece and update our specifications. I.e. currently we believe the 20mm has 67º AFOV and the 50mm 48º so have already updated their product pages. The 30mm appears to have a wider AFOV than expected so we'll delay updating that one until we are sure. No hurry. Please take your time. I will be interested to hear your feedback. HTH, Steve
  17. Done. Thank-you Steve 🙂 Wratten 29 Dark red Filter
  18. This discussion is nearly nine years old, perhaps they are referring to a different model 🙂 Steve
  19. Yes indeed. Lots of Telrads. We like the Telrad 😁
  20. FLO now stocks a wide range of filters for visual astronomy 🙂 Astro Essentials Visual Filters Use our pick & mix offers to choose your favourites. Manufactured by Guan Sheng Optical (GSO) in Taiwan.
  21. Unfortunately the difficulties at Felixstowe have already affected supply of astronomy products and will continue to until at least Christmas. Our main concern is, will the shipments scheduled to dock early-mid December be delayed. If they are then a lot of telescopes purchased for Christmas presents will not arrive until early-mid Jan. That would understandably cause some upset. Overall the stock availability situation is not improving and we don’t think it will until after a vaccine is released and made readily available. This is true for many products, not only astronomy kit. These are extraordinary times. Steve
  22. It is a different eyepiece, not one of those discussed here. HTH
  23. It is all good. People are only sharing thier thoughts 🙂 Steve
  24. ‘Revelation’ was/is a Telescope House brand. Bresser-Germany purchased Telescope House some time ago. I no longer see Revelation Superview eyepieces at the TH website and those still listed at other websites (TH distributed them) are out of stock and/or offered at what appear to be clearance prices. I believe £69 is a good price for a 2” GSO SuperView eyepiece. Steve
