Saw what you did there 😄 Anyone looking at the chart in my previous post will see the £ has been steadily falling since April/May, but we delayed increasing prices until now (over three months). Steve

The recent price increases are due entirely to the falling £. Items purchased in $ cost considerably more than they used to. The same is true for all products purchased in $. Not only Tele Vue eyepieces. At FLO they will because in this instance the cause is currency fluctuation. The reductions might not be immediate (depends when stock was purchased) but it will happen. To be fair, we didn't immediately increase prices either. We have been absorbing the negative affect of currency fluctuations for some time. HTH, Steve

Someone has to do it 😄 Takahashi Abbe Orthoscopic eyepieces have been discontinued. Currently we have only 1x 4mm remaining. Takahashi LE eyepieces are also discontinued. Currently we have small numbers of most focal lengths in stock. Takahashi say alternatives are planned but not for release in the the near future. HTH, Steve

That was fun 😀 Our first time at the Herstmonceux Astronomy Festival, but definitely not our last. It is a very special place with an easy-going friendly atmosphere that attracts a good mix of experienced astronomers, beginners and families. A sincere thank-you to the organisers and to everyone who stopped to say hello. Hope to see you all again next year 🤗

This year's dates are Fri 2nd - Sun 4th September. Herstmonceux Astronomy Festival is a relaxed family-friendly event that is especially welcoming to newcomers 🤗 If you have an interest in science or astronomy and want a fun day out with talks, workshops, displays and exhibits - we recommend you attend. "Whether for a day or for the whole weekend come and join us and soak up the fantastic atmosphere of our fabulous Science Centre and Observatory. Lots of fun for families and keen astronomers alike!" The festival is less commercial than most other astronomy events. With this in mind, FLO will be there but will not be retailing. Instead we will display and demonstrate a number of beginner-friendly telescopes and will have some solar-scopes setup for those who wish to safely observe the Sun (if UK weather doesn't permit, we will display live views of the Sun via our solar observatory in Spain). It will be fun. Hope to see you there 😊

A shipment with Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi mounts has arrived at the distributors warehouse so stock will arrive at ours later this week or early next. When they arrive all our existing customer backorders will be fulfilled 🙂 We will also have a small number of mounts (not mount/tripod bundles) available to buy. They will likely sell out soon after our 'Notify me when in stock' auto-emails are triggered so if you want one we recommend you place your ASAP. Unfortunately there are no more shipments (with star Adventurer GTi) expected this year so it will quickly become unavailable again until around March 2023! HTH, Steve

No. They are NOT dead in the water 🙂 Starlight Xpress (like many other UK companies) are of course affected by the arrival of Chinese-manufactured brands but they saw it coming (Sky-Watcher did same to the telescope and mount market) so were prepared. I.e. they also manufacture cameras for the scientific community and industrial imaging, not only for us astronomers. This is good because Michael, Gill & Terry are some of the nicest people you are ever likely to meet and their company is now the 'only' (please correct me if I am wrong) astronomy camera manufacturer in the UK. They have a number of new astronomy cameras in development, hopefully for release later this year, and will be attending Herstmonceux, IAS and at least one other event (soon to be revealed).
