  1. I disagree, yes ok it is not the best, but if like me, budget, experience and dedication to this fantastic hobby are in limited supply, great results are achievable. I have managed 60 seconds exposures when everything goes well, polar alignment, balance, focus and objects in a favourable position. It has brought to me objects that are invisible to the naked eye and very difficult to even see through the scope. Here’s just a sample of what I’ve imaged with this set up using a non modded canon 1100d, no filters. If like me, you have set your expectations at an achievable level, this set up is great. I love it.
  2. West, south, east and north from my usual garden observing position. I can see the North Star ok to polar align but obviously limited with these darn trees!!
  3. Another great launch and all 3 boosters safely landed.
  4. Watch it dock https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive
  5. Another successful launch for Space X, it still amazes me the science that goes into launching and then landing the first stage on a moving barge in the ocean. Did anyone notice lightening in the background before launch?
  6. Cloudy so not a great spectacle, here’s some shots of it though.
  7. Recent shots, frosty scope and stargazing buddy.
  8. Here’s some pics of another safe launch including a nosy bird.
  9. Another one tonight https://spaceflightnow.com/2019/01/19/live-coverage-delta-4-heavy-readied-for-launch-from-vandenberg-air-force-base/
  10. And here we go again. Ariane’s turn at 20:30 ish https://spaceflightnow.com/2018/12/04/ariane-5-va-246-mission-status-center/
  11. All seems fine. Xmas teddy hanging up ?
  12. A big one tomorrow 11:30, 1st with a crew since aborted launch last time: https://spaceflightnow.com/2018/12/02/live-coverage-russia-preps-for-first-crewed-mission-since-aborted-launch/
  13. Amazing, the power, the engineering, the science, dedication, what a spectacle. I was nervous but in the end awe struck again. Loved the coincidence of the commentary by Patrick Moore!!
  14. One for the morning. My kids email addresses are on the memory card on this solar probe. https://spaceflightnow.com/2018/08/10/delta-4-heavy-parker-solar-probe-mission-status-center/
  15. Been very quiet on here recently, pesky summer. Anyway, I was so pleased to get back out a few nights ago, and I'm over the moon with my attempt at the pillars of creation in the Eagle Nebula. So low, and houses and trees limiting my time to just 80 x 20 sec exposures ISO 1600 plus bias. It's not Hubble, but it's mine. Bonus Wild Duck Cluster to round off a bird themed DSO few hours.
  16. I was asleep during the launch, totally forgot after a late night waiting in vane for the clouds to clear. Watched the catch up but didn't seem to have the razzmatazz of recent launches.
  17. All set up, forecast was good but the clouds have rolled in. Neighbours are having a party as well so Blackpool illuminations! I was going to have my first attempt at the Eagle Nebula but it may have to wait.
