  1. No its not normal for that to happen i have a Esprit 100 and I have never seen anything like that. If that is not calibrated at all then I would think that its an issue with the filter, I don't have first hand experience as I use mounted filters but I know that people used to get something like that with the older V1 ZWO 36mm filters that did not have edge blackening applied. Maybe take a look at the filter in question and see if there is any chipping of discontinuity in the edge coating. Adam
  2. Over correction is normally caused by poorly calibrated flat frames. Did you correctly match dark flats to the flats in temperature offset gain and exposure?
  3. It's the other war around the SW Cc pushes focus inwards slightly so pulling the mirror back would make it worse.
  4. Yes one of many reasons I don't want a dob, not practical for a child. Even the table top ones are not great as they just end up leaning on the table and seeing nothing.
  5. Honestly, thinking about cancelling it and for one of these instead. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/sky-watcher-az-pronto/sky-watcher-skymax-102s-az-pronto.html Or this https://www.firstlightoptics.com/sky-watcher-az-pronto/sky-watcher-evostar-90-660-az-pronto.html
  6. Thanks, but it does not take my master's degree in physics to have worked that out for myself.
  7. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HZYDD-Telescopes-Astronomy-Astronomical-Adjustable/dp/B09XQW4HX6 And to think I got it for only £117.... Can you even report this to Amazon.
  8. Also people on Amazon seem happy with these, but not sure the opinion of people on Amazon counts for much. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Svbony-Eyepiece-Telescope-Degree-Accessories/dp/B07B8KJ9KT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3RM0VJCUXVHG1&keywords=6mm+eyepiece&qid=1663450023&sprefix=6mm+eyepeice%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-3
  9. Was hoping for a ES 62degree 5.5mm used. Might put up a wanted advert.
  10. Yeah am good with 100x and can ignore some purple. Just trying to get the best out of around 60-70 pounds in terms of eyepiece or Barlow and eyepiece combinations. I think that a wider apparent feild would be nice as it would show the whole moon at 100x.
  11. Quick question. As I can only afford a cheap 2x Barlow £30 and a cheap 12mm eyepiece £25, looking at the one I have it's not even coated. Would I be better off just paying more for a 5/6mm mid range eyepiece 62 degree and forgetting the Barlow? Or is the acro lens going to be the limiting factor in either case. Adam
  12. I went back and forth between this and a Mak, but at least this can be wide enough for some clusters like M45 etc. The Mak was moon and planets only at its focal length.
  13. Yes unlikely to have any of those at his age, I believe it works out about 0.8mm pupil. Just trying to decide on the best 2x Barlow. Possibly looking at a used celestron Omni X2.
  14. Rightly or wrongly just picked up a AR-80 640mm F8 acro up for my 5 year old to take a look at the moon with. Not letting him hang off the end of my Esprit. Going to throw it onto my AZGTI and hope for the best with the packaged tripod. Recommended max mag, eyepiece and Barlow please. Have a 12mm polssl and it comes with a 28mm that looks questionable. Was thinking a SV bony 2x Barlow with the 12mm on the moon? That pushing it too far? https://www.bresser.de/en/Astronomy/Telescopes/BRESSER-NANO-AR-80-640-AZ-Telescope.html Hopefully a nice match to the AZ GTI. Adam
  15. Yes but I highly doubt that Sony will have had astro imaging in mind when they optimised performance, much more likely security cameras and compact video cameras. Adam
  16. If buying a used EVOSTAR 72ED how can you tell is its the newer shorter tube version or the older longer tube version with the diffcult backspacking? Adam
  17. Spectacular image! The 533mm working really well here. Not sure you needed 600s subs though at F3.9, what gain did you use?
  18. I think that there are still some questions that could be addressed to ZWO on this matter to help their customers undertstand the change in product specification. Adam
  19. Yes that is a classic case of badly pinched optics. Your mirror clips are too tight.
  20. Nice video, ZWO messed up not releasing an uncooled camera with the imx533 mono sensor.
  21. Can't zoom in sufficiently on my phone right now. It's easier to see in the less processed image earlier yes, but hints of it in the later images you posted. Slightly triangular stars with flairing. Although it could also be the focus tube in the light path. Hard to diagnose the difference between the two myself. You would need to look down the tube.
  22. Currency fluctuations are one thing, but supply and demand trump's all. Hence I see the SW GTI as my final purchase for some time, got to pay for gas and electricity l, that's not just an issue for me either it's us all. Someone has to take a hit or I strongly suspect demand will greatly reduce.
  23. You mention a better coma corrector, not entiarly sure that its all not still colimation or flex in the tube due to the weight of the camera, but the other thing I see in the above image is evidence of primary mirror pinching. Might be an idea to slightly back off the primary mirror clips and see if that helps you. If the ES corrector will work then its a great option if not then another long barrel 4 element ED design, there are a few clones on the SW Quatro corrector about. Adam
