  1. you answered that yourself i think as you quoted " I can't mount the gear directly to the RA shaft as it won't clear the locking handle" On the Dec yes? So you need clearance as you have the RA gear with the grub screw section facing outwards as opposed to facing inwards
  2. is the steel rod that's attached to the coupling (is is a ridgid one or a flexible coupling) is the rod keyed (ie a flat on it) or cylindrical. if cylindrical and on the coupling there are 2 grub screws the rod might not be centralised if you understand. And throw it of balance ideally you would mount the large gear directly onto the RA shaft can you not turn the RA gear the other way round of does this provide enough room to attach the belt? also on the motor rotate the pinion gear as well
  3. ah your link now works so maybe a lag on the SGL server maybe needs approval by a mod
  4. I did try to re-attach the mov file but failed for me as well don't know why as I selected the file you posted to me and attached to my reply but again failed to open
  5. You are slewing at quite a fast rate and to me sounds acceptable no grinding noises apart from the dog who does not like it. Could well be resonance from the belt?
  6. the above IMG 4900.MOV does not seem to want to play ball? get an error Sorry! We could not locate the item you are trying to view.
  7. Well my copy turned up today via abebooks in great condition many thanks for the heads up
  8. I did have a look on MantisBT and had seen your help request and saw that you where in safe hands. great you got it sorted
  9. Same for the Eq5 mount only 1 mounting hole for the plate alebeit it does have a wedge to locate the plate in a groove on the mount as per Malc look for a better support. that has some lateral play to take up the slack in the belt. maybe bring out the metalwork skills and make up a bottom plate out of aluminium.
  10. What ISO setting are you using as 800 is a starting point for the 600D
  11. I bought mine premade from an SGL member and works fine. Tom the man behind astroeq has stopped manufacture at the onset of Covid the only route is to source one premade second hand or build one with Arduino Mega the schematic is and relevant info is on the website.
  12. Mine's still a work in progress as use Astroeq at the moment. Maybe ask on the Onstep forum?
  13. maybe use your phone and record the noise and post here to determine if motor or mount noise as In Dec as only move in that axis as the worm gear has a little backlash movement if the same as an EQ5 but the EQ3 I am not OK with it's configuration
  14. sorry went into french then what year? as this is a a good one

  16. a little bit of flexure so the belt can't jump a tooth not like a timing belt on a car. Or a guitar string it sings
  17. 🍷 cheese Camembert of Course and a glass of Roc-De-Bel-Air (bordeaux) that's my after dinner tipple
  18. Computers for You a real pain in the proverbial glad you got it sorted
  19. The OP has tried during daylight as above so to me maybe an issue as per say My ST80 and needed to add a 50mm extension into the Focuser to achieve focus
  20. how are you attaching the camera to the ST102? and have you any photo's of the scope and camera attached to help resolve this. " I have tried a number of combinations between the telescope and camera with no success". What do you mean
  21. like mine one is longer than the other so don't worry
  22. it all depends on the placement of the steppers as you have a custom mount not relative to the pulley configuration.
  23. a word of caution did not read properly as you are using gt2 pulleys as mine are MXL's
