  1. Hello guys, I am seeing that there are too many big dobsonian telescopes in America but here in Europe I don't see any posts including big dobs. Why exactly is that? How large are the largest dobs in Europe? Are there any other companies that can recoat mirrors expect Orion Optics UK? How large are the largest mirrors that can be recoated here in Europe? It is a question I am having for many years...
  2. Hello guys, I would like to build a 20-24" dobsonian and wondering about the quality of these conical mirrors. Is there any optician in Europe that can build a conical mirror of good quality?
  3. Guys, I want to ask: In these cases with the precut foam like the B&W, how can you glue the foam back again to rearrange your eyepieces?
  4. Guys, I just made my newly purchased B&W Series 5000 case. Inside is Nagler 5mm, nagler 7mm, nagler 9mm, nagler 13mm, nagler 16mm, nagler 20mm, Explore scientific 8.8mm, explore scientific 14mm, explore scientific 30mm, finder 8x50, howie laser 2", howie glatter 2", OIII 2", UHC 2", H-beta 2", binoculars 2.3x, red flashlight, green laser, lens pen. It has also room for another or 2 eyepieces... The howie glatter is a bit cramped but the case is able to close without much effort.
  5. I personally can identify which eyepiece I keep in my hand without even see it (including 4 type6 naglers). And of course I put them in the case in specific spots, not randomly, so I know where I have to take the eyepiece from I want each time.
  6. I see even small type6 naglers or orthos put horizontally.
  7. I have just ordered the B&W series 5000 but I am going to put all my eyepieces vertically. Actually I don't understand why everyone in this topic puts the eyepieces horizontally.
  8. martinl, I used the app, it is very helpful. John, can you explain the method again? How can you insert a big eyepiece inside the case without removing some foam? Especially when inserting the eyepiece vertically...
  9. Guys, is there any program or site with eyepiece and suitcase database to virtually design your eyepiece collection inside the suitcase in order to see how you can put them inside before you cut the foam?
  10. The best aperture is the biggest aperture you can transport to a dark sky alone.
  11. I' m wondering how difficult is for somebody to make a mirror like yours. How many hours did it take for you to finish the mirror? What about the total cost of the materials? Without your personal work of the mirror and the body construction.
  12. Congratulations for your work. It seems truly amazing! The question I want to ask is how fast the primary mirror is, the f ratio. I didn't see it somewhere.
