  1. Great transparency last night. Managed two new targets; NGC400 (Mirach's ghost) & M102 (Spindle galaxy). Also saw M33 for the first time for a long time from my garden. Excellent stuff! :)

  2. Liking the darker nights once again, when clouds allow of course!

  3. Managed to bag a new planetary nebula last night, NGC7027, along with Neptune too, along with all the usual suspects too. Had a nice 2.5hrs under some clear sky from 11:00pm till finish at 1:30am. :)

Nice catches! Sounds like a more than satisfying "knight"!

  4. Great views of Saturn this evening. Cassini was so prominent. Even managed to see details on the planet too for the first time. Kind of strange that Jupiter wasn't any where near as good!

  5. Nice wee session with my goto. Nice to see Saturn & 4 of its moons.  Also, nice to see the dumbbell nebula once again, even in the poor sky conditions.

  6. Lunar V is starting to show, well before the X which should start approx 10:36p'm UK time.

  7. Lunar X coming up around 10:36pm UK tonight, so fingers crossed for my first viewing. May also see the V too, so here's hoping! ????

  8. Got a brief outing on Thursday night with the new C8 SCT. Collimation was slightly out (sorted now hopefully). With DSO's however I managed to easily pick out some galaxies that I'd not seen before, so very happy with that even with the LP where I live! :)

  9. Managed to catch a break in the clouds and see Vesta again. Nicely viewed with the help of Skysafari. Forcast pretty dire for the week ahead so may be the last time for a few days to track it again!

  10. Nice couple of hours observing. Managed to track Vesta down once again. Now warming up with a cup of tea as it is pretty chilly out there! :)

  11. Looks like some clear nights ahead for the next three nights, at least that's what's forcast for where I live anyway. Fingers crossed! :)

  12. I'm loving tracking Vesta through Gemini. 4 nights out of 5 tracking it is pretty good, especially with the lousy weather here lately! Managed just to see 41P too with averted vision just! :)

  13. My Astro mojo is on a high lately. Even cloudy weather is not damping it down! Hehe! ???

  14. Third night in a row I've been able to track Vesta. Pretty good going for the UK I think! Vesta's movement over these three nights has been easily observed. Will post more sketches soon of its path. ?

  15. Managed to snap Vesta in a widefield shot with my Canon bridge camera. Yes! :)

  16. Yeah! Managed to bag Vesta tonight. Was easier than I thought to spot with the surrounding stars and was the brightest in the EP too, so well chuffed! :):):)

Thanks Reggie. Was hoping that I may just catch it with the camera, and in the end it popped out quite easily once I zoomed out for a wider field of view with the camera and a shorter exposure time of 6 seconds. :)

  17. Weather forcast is for clear this evening, so fingers crossed the Vesta hunt can begin! :)

Grrrrr.......those clouds are teasing me still. Hope I get at least  an hour break soon otherwise I'll call it a night! ????

  18. Just managed to catch 5 minutes of observing the shadow of Io on Jupiter before clouds fully rolled in. Also managed to see a nice bright green meteor though also at 22:56, which must have been bright as I saw it through thin cloud/haze in the direction of Leo. :)

  19. Managed to bag Venus just before I went behind houses, and Mercury too for the first time for ages. Pushed the mag a little, but could see the phase of Mercury very easily. Had a quick peek at Mars too! :)

  21. New scope arrived today! Only quite small, so smallish cloud penalty right? ;)

Thanks Charl. Was testing out the new Goto mount, and worked a treat. Saw a couple of M's I'd never seen before. Wish I'd took notes 'cos I can't rember the numbers, but a new Galaxy see, plus a new glob and some open clusters too. :)

  23. Can't wait to test out my 6/8 SE Goto mount when I get back home, so hoping for some clear skies for Friday night and the weekend! Fingers crossed! :)

      Knighty2112

Thanks Guys. Was nice to have some observing time again. Only downside was the glare of the moon, but hey I'll take what I can when the chance permits! :)

  25. Managed a quick smash and grab session for 20mins between clouds on Jupiter and the Moon with my grab n'go Porta mount and ST120 frac. Seeing was poor on Jupiter, but not too bad on the moon. :)
