How do you zoom in and out on that site?
-
ah, never knew that, never used to get that option

After another not so successful night... well, apart from getting quicker at polar alignment etc..
Had some issues with star alignment... think that was more due to using a UHC filer that made the stars harder to spot?
Got focused up with the old mask....
Then slewed to my target, the North American Nebula.
Did a test exposure.. couldn't see much, but thought it was probably due to needing more stacked exposures (still learning 🙂 )
So, set APT off... came back later and did a quick stack to see... and nothing 😞
Anyway, was a work night so packed up for the night.
Then remembered people on here talking about sites you can upload the image and it will tell you where it is in the sky, so gave it a go.
The rectangle was where my scope was pointed... and the nebula was above... oh well. Least it was cool to see these amazing sites and what they can do!
How do you upload to this website?

whats the imaging details/ equipment Blinky?
Fay
Hi Fay - thanks for the comments! It as shot with a William Optics ZS73 and an ASI1600 mono - I think I had around 50 shots of L and 20 of RGB all 3 mins at 150 gain. All processing was done in Pixinsight, although it was pretty light touch since the data was prettty good (for me anyway!)
-
Glad you got it sorted!
-
Actually realised I took 50 L subs! Kit was WO ZS73 and ASI600
-
Been up there myself, at the campsite right on the shore of the loch - amazing place and stunning skies!
-
Looks like I might have some detail around M110 - or maybe its a processing artefact?
-
Quite pleased with this - I did take some other subs to make a mosaic but cant get it to work and to be honest, Im happy with it as is! LRGB, 20 subs for each filter all 180s

I tried all of that as well, good luck! If you get it sorted let me know
-
Nope, ended up sending it back, tried 2 cables and they were both the same. Dont know what the problem is, I still suspect its a windows or driver issue rather than a problem with the cable.
-
Yeah, increase the exposure and it should be fine, I use it for narrowband with no issues
-
was not happy with the background of the original, its hard to stack frames for a mosaic and get the backgrounds the same - i think there was cloud about during some of them which made it worse

Figured it out, I have a horrible feeling I was creating a new aligned image, the in the merge mosaic, was selecting the original in-aligned image - Idiot!

I would pay the subscription if I thought it was worth it but as others have said, the software frequently locks up, also the GNS alerting now does not work as when guiding is lost SGPro just reports that the sequence has ended, not errored! I logged this last week but have had no responses on the forum regarding the issue. Im going to look at NINA as it seems to have the same features, is free and has active support.
-
yeah saw that
-
Seems that GNS does not support NINA yet - been on the NINA support pages and had the devs confirm this.
-
Im thinking of moving to NINA for a couple of reasons, SGPro is moving to an annual payment licensing system, which Im not totally against but NINA is free 🙂 Also, at the moment I cannot get the GNS, Good Night System alerting working with SGPro. For some reason in the latest version, when PHD looses a guide star, SGPro is not sending an error, just a sequence ended message. I see on the homepage of GNS https://shop.lunaticoastro.com/product/gns-good-night-system/ that it has native support for NINA but I cant see how to configure it. Has anybody used GNS with NINA and if so how do you configure it?

needed to hit apply and not apply global, so the round button instead of the square one

I have no idea what Im doing wrong! I have 2 images, both of them 4 image mosaics - one in Ha and one in O3. Im trying to register the O3 to the Ha file, so in Star Alignment, I select the HA Mosaic and in target I select the O3 Mosaic, I have it set to register/match images.... I select an output directory and click apply. No file is written to the output directory but an image appears on screen, the on screen image is not aligned though and when I look in the output console, it appears to have done nothing! What am I doing wrong, this is driving me nuts, been at it for over an hour!!!

If you have the belt mod done, make sure you have the scope balanced perfectly. I find some noghts I get sub arc second and some nights its maybe around 1.3, I put this down to the weather!
Used a plate solving website for the first time, its cool!
