Oh and sorry I must be going senile, forgot I had already posted that other thread!
-
From what I read it was the other way round, that was why I asked,I'm sure I read that the offset cannot be set in the ascom driver and that was why there is a specific ZWO camera selection to allow this to be set per filter

They are dead easy to make but the bit I find tricky to impossible is making a DIY bracket! Wish I knew somebody who could make an adjustable one for me.
-
Cant bring myself to pay the money for these commercial robo focusers - it costs about £6 to but a stepper, controller and Arduino and install the free Ascom compatible software. The only tricky thing is mounting it to the focuser as my DIY skills are non-existant!

Check it isn't just the worm set too tight.
I over-adjusted my backlash and caused exactly those symptoms - but only with the extra weight of the scope on the mount (I assume that the scope is balanced).
Yep I did the same, although if the mount is brand new I would not be expecting to do this myself so I would send it back for replacement

Are there any images with this scope yet? Thinking of getting one and using my old 1000d as an imaging setup when I’m t my static caravan

Hmmm.... not being a programmer that might be a challenge but will see what I can do!

I have just purchased a L293D Adafruit stepper controller (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/L293D-Adafruit-Compatible-Motor-Control-Shield-Motor-Driver-for-Arduino-CHIP-27/222012365564?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649) and NEMA17 stepper with a planetary drive/gear in it (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Extruder-Gear-Stepper-Motor-Ratio-3-7-1-Planetary-Gearbox-Nema-17-Step-Motor-New/282174288111?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649)
Will the above work with your focuser or will I need to make some changes to the sketch?

Sounds good - count me in!

Woo Hoo!!!! Just got mine all connected and it worked first time! Got this adapter from fleabay:

Set it to DTE(saves the need for a null modem) and changed baud rate to 9600 and away it went!!!!

Just a quick review of the great service I recieved from Bernard at Modern Astronomy...
I originally ordered a QHY5 but after having a problem with the driver I decided to send it back and get a Lodestar as it is more sensitive and as I am going to be using it with an OAG I thought it best (in hindsight) to get the most sensitive guide cam I could. Anyway, after discussing things with Bern (Both on the phone and by Email) he sorted everything out for me and I am now the owner of a lovely Lodestar guide cam.
Bern always seems to answer emails promptly and whenever I have called I always manage to get hold of him - he is very kowledgeable and is always willing to discuss options - Great service Modern Astronomy:headbang:

No, as I use Windows7 I had to flash them both.
-
Is there any way to display more than one camera onscreen? I have 2 of them but whatever program I use, when I try and connect to a 2nd cam the machien or application hangs.
-
Mine worked perfectly in Windows 7 after flashing it - was recognised straight away.
-
Thanks, just got it done. No problems at all!
-
OK, just about to do the firmware but it giving me a warning saying it is not in streaming mode? Should I startup wxastroCapture and have it running and connected to the camera while uploading the firmware?
-
Ah, OK Jamie, thanks for the tip!
-
Does anybody know if it is possible to run these on Windows 7? Just got my 2 today but it does not seem to be recognised!
-
I think you just agreed with Steve there. You said he said! It probablly would not work due to in focus. Not that it would not work just probablly would not!

The DSI Does (i think) have a short nosepiece. I think a reducer will work with non DSLR's such as the DSI. A DSLR Needs quite a bit more infocus to start wirth and I think this is where the problems would appear.
Would coma not be a big problem with a DSLR and a reducer as well?
-
I have used a 0.5x reducer with my Orion Optics 8" Newt and Meade DSI with no problems.

Very interesting and usefull, thanks very much for this!
One question over binning. If I BIN my RGB Data in Maxim is makes it half the size, how does this then get merged in with the unbinned Lum data?
Settings on SGPro for ASI1600 Gain/Offset

This is from the sgp forum and it's by one of the revs and it seems to say the opposite of symmetal. This is why I'm confused
With the native you can set gan and offset per event within SGP. With ascom
you cannot. Essentially just more control over the gain and offset with the
native. But if ascom is working just fine then no real reason to change
either.
