  1. I should probably just buy a Powermate shouldn’t I? Even I have just about given up, I have properly (read obsessively) looked.
  2. I must research before I post, I must research before I post, I must research before I post, I must research before I post…..
  3. I have been looking for a 6 mm Radian for 2 years, rare things these days it seems. ABS used to be a wash with them, not anymore. Mr Asperger here needs all his gear to match sadly, my own self imposed hell.
  4. My apologies, I mean your lovely Vixen!
  5. Yeah I know there are some, but most sets seem to be more 5 - 7 - 11 etc, not so many 6 - 8 - 12
  6. Question for the forum. Why are there so few 6 mm eyepieces options?
  7. Absolutely, had a glimpse of Jupiter (somewhat wobbly) and a little more quality time with the moon. 🌒
  8. I was just about to post the same thing, absolutely dire. Makes you wonder how Lunt and co don’t go bust in the intervening years!
  9. I don’t do a lot myself to be honest, but with the 11 year solar maximum about to reach its peak it would be rude not to.
  10. Wow, just seen how old this thread is. Anyway since we are here what do the rest of you use? What magnifications do you use?
  11. I currently use an 11 mm and 20 mm Tele Vue plossls with my 4 inch refractor, although with a slightly slower focal length
  12. I certainly noticed a difference between a couple of old SW ED scopes. But when I foolishly sold my ED120 for a OO dob and didn’t get on with it I bought another 4 inch refractor (a Vixen) since then I have owned a number of other refractor’s, all of them 4 inch and for whatever reason never bought another 5 inch. I do think 4 inches is something of a sweet spot. Perhaps if I had an observatory I would buy something big, a 6 inch apo would be nice wouldn’t it!
  13. I use a 4 inch refractor. I was just out a few minutes ago and Jupiter (it’s still climbing) was just stable at x110. My step up is x176 and it a blur this evening. I can go higher than this on Saturn, Mars, Uranus, the moon and doubles no problem, just not Jupiter. This is a shame as it’s probably my favourite target. The vast majority of my observations are solar system based. I would buy another big dob if I wanted to get into the fuzzy blob game again (unlikely)
  14. We just finished a storm, I might have a small window with Jupiter this evening early doors
  15. The North Sea is a violent, cold and dangerous place. I would have thought that would have an impact on seeing? Very happy to be wrong on this
