    First try at imagine Uranus.
  2. LOL! I made a model boat that took 16 years and cost me about £20
  3. From the album: Planets

    Quick grab with bridge camera.
  4. I'm getting this irrational compulsion to spray my cheap 'frac white...
  5. I must admit I am surprised how many people use 3-4" refractors and have brilliant results. I had always thought 3" was a kind of 'minimum spec'. It's made me look again at my cheap refractor and discover that it is capable of much more than I thought.
  6. Where can I get one of those wall-mounted tripods?
  7. I think it picks up local time from your system clock? It certainly is giving me times in BST rather than UTC here.

  15. I think both Skywatcher and Bresser give fair impressions of what you might see in their manuals.
  16. Just remember good is good enough - don't chase minute errors that won't affect your viewing!
  17. There's another thread on this (which looks better than many such things) and it includes a link to the manufacturers although the price is similar without the magazines!
  18. I'm usually sceptical of these things, but the Orrery looks quite impressive, to be honest.
  19. True confession, I had a 2" reflector. Managed to find the moon and either Jupiter or Mars and got very frustrated at how fast they disappeared. Saw PM on telly saying don't bother with anything less than 3", so I didn't, I just used to see if I could make out cars across the Bristol channel on Weston seafront and even use it as a 'bazooka' from time to time. Will have to see if it is still in my dad's loft...
