  1. Thank you all for your help and advice. Will seek and give it a try. Thank you once again. G
  2. I'm a bit embarrassed posting this but I can't get anywhere with Startools. From DSS it won't open the file (autosave.tif); I need to resave the file in PS (uncompressed). No problem with Sequator. Follow the tutorial, etc, but i still finish up with a grainy psychedelic image when starting with both DSS and Sequator. I have no problem with PS processing. I must be missing something. Any thoughts that are printable? 😳 Thanks you G
  3. Hi Thanks for the replies. Yes, I just go to the first target as well. It's just that I saw a youtube video showing going back to the Home position before going to the target. Thank you once again G
  4. Hi Once polar aligned via ASIair pro the scope finishes up at 60 deg as part of the PA process. I have then gone straight from this position to the object I want - seems to work. Question?: Should I go back to home position from the 60 deg after the PA then go to the object? Thank you G
  5. Anyone tried ASI DeepStack? It provides the output as a FITS file and jpg. Does anyone process jpgs'? Thank you
  6. Hi I've just updated to v1.6. It seems to be OK but not tried the video mode. Silly question - where is the video mode in the app? Cheers Graham
  7. On my ASIair Pro using an Android tablet I get the following: Switch to internet settings on Android tablet. Once booted the ASI Pro comes up on the internet of the tablet as "ASIair Saved, encrypted (no internet access)I Press it to connect then open the ASIair app on the tablet Notice at top says "ASIair service is running" whilst app is booting App opens but shortly after I get message "Current wifi network cannot access the internet. Switch to another network?" "CANCEL SWITCH." Just press "CANCEL" and it all works: carry on G
  8. Anyone tried ASI DeepStack in ASI Studio v 1.4?
  9. Hi Dave, I prefer Android. Never had a problem but I have with iPad G
  10. Forgot to add I believe the v1.6 does not work or fully work on ASIair v1, only the Pro
  11. Hi Thank you for your replies - I will wait until v1.6 becomes 'official', not beta. The ASIair is good! Mine works perfectly on v1.5 but there is a slight hiccup - not too much of a problem. Connected to the SW6-R-Pro it does not do a Meridian flip. It says it is going to but doesn't. Apparently it is a known 'bug' for some in v1.5. I've also seen that changing the USB cable to the scope fixed the problem in one case. However I would recommend it. I've just received the Vonets WiFi extender - works great with distinct improvement in the WiFi range; can readily use it from indoors now. G
  12. Hi Has anyone tried the update to version 1.6 which is currently in beta? Cheers
  13. I'm using a 120mm guide scope with the main scopes of 700 -920 mm. Would I be better, ie, get more precise guiding to use, say, a 200mm guide scope? Thank you.
  14. Tonight using ASIair Pro and started - all is fine, PA, guiding, etc, until I noticed the scope was out of focus. Stopped photographing and refocused. Set off again. When started (viewing M81) I got a message something like 'Meridian flip in 400 (or so ) seconds.' Waited until the time was up then got he message too far from the equator. Started again and all was fine - until the clouds came in. What am I missing? Thank you G
  15. Anyone had much experience of using and comparing both. I found that, in general, Sequator gives 'better' results, but it may just mean I need to adjust settings more in DSS. I'll do a search and find out more about such settings Thank you
  16. I have a modded Nikon D5600. Got it from JTW Netherlands. I believe they also mod existing cameras. Email Mark at JTW. G
  17. I'm using ASIair Pro. The guide exposures are 0.5, 1, 2, 4, etc. I'll check top see if I can 'mod' these like exposures for the camera. Thank you G
  18. Thank you for the reply. Yes, I read this somewhere. I've been using the minimum that came up on the ASIair Pro, so I'll now try 2 secs instead of 0.5. Thank you G
  19. Hi Did I see somewhere that the exposure time for the guide scope affects guiding performance? Thank you G
  20. Hi Thanks for replies. Ordered one as I sent the message. Just thought if anyone else had or actually got one. Scope on the drive so I can pick up at 15 feet from garage with garage door open. I can get a signal - just - indoors from lounge window but it appears to depend on scope orientation
  21. Hi Does anyone have advice on the settings for the following for ASIair Pro? Calibration step Max DEC duration Max RA duration I believe that the defaults are 2000, 1000 and 1000 respectively. I've seen others which are smaller Thank you G
  22. Hi Anyone know what the back focus should be on Explore 127 triplet with flattener? Camera is a ZWO ASI 183mc Thank you G
  23. Hi Dave Thank you for your reply. Yes, the Canon does have the Baader fitted hence no 'colouration' problem. The Nikon was modded by JTW in the Netherlands; standard filter removal mod. I've reset the Nikon to auto WB as it was originally. I'm going out tonight to give it a try but I will try the grey card (can't find mine so another should arrive tomorrow). I'll also try the + 2 stops simply to find out what is best. I thought that I was measuring the card temperature but something must have been adrift somewhere. Interestingly the results as they built up on the tablet using ASIair Pro looked really good; lots of detail on the 4 min exposures - shame though Anyway I'll see what happens tonight using the same gear Explore triplet 127 Thank you Dave G
  24. I think I am drastically missing something stupid (don't answer that) I have a Canon 600D (Baader modded) and recently a Nikon D5600 (modded) Due to the mod the pics are sort of a magenta colour with the Nikon. Not so with the Canon. I must admit that I do find it difficult to process the Nikons to get the result I want. I've read somewhere that this is reduced by setting a custom white balance and not using auto. So this afternoon I set the white balance to custom using a piece of white paper in sunlight. This appeared white just photographing white paper and not the magenta colour prior to taking the colour balance off auto. Tonight I took 4 min subs using the camera via my ASIair Pro. They looked absolutely great on the Tablet - lots of detail. That's where it ends. Photos look blue and VERY light. They do not process at all properly in DSS followed by photoshop, nor do the FITS. My gut feeling is that I should have used an 18% grey card in sunlight, and not the white paper. Or is there something else I should be looking at? No problems at all with the 600D: never have been Apologies if you fall over laughing but any advice would be most gratefully received. Thank you G
