  1. That is awesome. Where'd you get it from?
  2. I'd be very happy with that considering you imaged with a guide camera.
  3. Yea it doesn't look quite right for trailing. I'd have expected the 60s trail to be double the length of the 30s trail. But it doesn't appear that way. Does your SA have any wobble to it of you try to shake it? Or backlash? What tripod is it attached to? How high do you have your tripod? Have you tried putting your camera settings to the lowest ISO it will go and taking a long exposure to see if the trailing starts and stops/ jumps around?
  4. Hotech 2" field flattener and a Baader Vari-Lock 46 to get the correct spacing. Just need to have some clear nights for testing.
  5. Very nice image and post. I was very close to getting one of these myself but then a William optics flt98 came up at a cheaper price and temptation got the best of me. Although I'm extremely happy with my flt98, still can't help but wonder which scope would come out on top in performance for astrophotography.
  6. You've got decent stars for such a long focal length. How long were your subs?
  7. If it is a spacing issue, wouldn't the banana bends all be going in the same direction? Can tilt be a possible cause? I must admit I'm very interested in this thread as my middle bahtinov spike isn't straight either and I use a flatfield astrograph (WO star71).
  8. That is correct, my mistake. I got my wires crossed with the mention of a dslr in the original post.
  9. Could it not be caused by vibration due to the shutter of your camera?
  10. Thanks, I'll look forward to reading your thoughts.
  11. How does this perform? I'm busy debating with myself between getting this and the 120ed
  12. Nebula red with an alien head instead of a horse head. A great camera and I regret selling mine.
  13. It is an awesome machine. I'm so pleased I got one.
  14. Thanks. I took the bottom off and gave the fans a good blowing, when I powered it back up it was fine, then I put it back on the arm of the sofa and it made the noise again. I guess it was just catching due to it not sitting flat. I must say I'm very impressed so far and I haven't even started using it for astrophotography yet. Still busy downloading drivers and programmes
  15. The hermes guy just delivered this to me. It's a nebula red alienware m17x r2. Now I just need to go through and download all the drivers and software needed for astro imaging (which is actually alot more than I though since I downloaded everything as and when I needed it on my old laptop). I bought it off ebay for £430 and it sounds like there may be something wrong with the fans. They're making a rather loud clicking/ buzzing noise.
  16. You managed to get it then. Thanks for taking away my temptation
  17. Have you ever had an esprit fail the bench test?
  18. I've had another play around since its horrid and cloudy outside. Hopefully it's an improvement on my first attempt which I've used a similar approach but not so heavy handed this time.
  19. I've had a quick play and I must say it was a joy to work with such good data. I've also attached a screen print of the processing steps I took in photoshop (easier than listing everything I done, but also ran a high pass filter at the end) Thank you for allowing me (well, everyone who want to) have access to your data. it really was such a pleasure.
  20. Mine says 1:0.33 Not sure what it means but guiding always seems fine in real world action
  21. Sorry for the bad weather. My new toys have finally arrived. Qhy183c, geoptik adapter with a rotator and an adjuster for my dual rig thanks to Allinthehead. I wonder how long it will be before I can play with my new toys?
  22. That's very good for a first attempt. Your black point looks a bit clipped but then it could just be how it looks on my phone
  23. I never check the bubbles to see if they are level. If I'm on uneven ground I roughly get it level by eye and never had an issue. But then I usually only shoot 1 min subs and loose basically none of them.
  24. This was taken from a "darker" site 10 miles out of town which will have helped
