  1. Ah yes that sounds familiar, after waiting for an hour or more you submit to defeat put the scope back in the car and it suddenly clears, so through steely determination you unpack only for it to erm, a kind of dance routine perhaps.
  2. I would like to implement a succession of readings Michael, at both Millshields and Pow Hill, which I believe is regarded as being perhaps a little darker. Infrequency of opportunities to observe at Derwent (last visit the cloud stubbornly remained, in defiance to BBC weather) compared to two other sites that I observe at with a little more continuity, has meant that at this location, I have so far not taken a reading. Actually last time I did get to observe at Derwent during a club meet, to be honest I simply forgot It has begun to become more of a routine ritual since then though, so come the Autumn can make a start on logging readings.
  3. Just back on topic, here is a picture indicating scale comparison between my 8" and 14" dobsonian.
  4. The Big Dipper, I take it you've never been to Blackpool mate. (Sorry best to get back on topic )
  5. Not the best picture however, setting up bino's for a stint of Lunar observing on the allotment.
  6. Very simple to use and good to take multiple readings through a session. I like to use varied dark sites and have locations that I have so far not been able to use, this devise therefore is very handy. Sometimes I only use it towards the end of a session, as I have not quite got into the habit yet and and likely being to preoccupied. A good reference for any report. The only location I have not used it is at home, no point in even knowing. I have typically had readings of 21.3 alone Hadrians Wall. Look forward to using it at Kielder. Here is a review expanding a little on Olly's as published through Cloudy Nights Unihedron Sky Quality Meter - Review
  7. Complete until the Televue Demon pays a return visit to my line of thinking.
  8. Looks good Michael, I used to keep my 2" diagonal in the eyepiece case but since have room for this set, posted else where but I can now declare on this thread as complete. The case (Jessops) measures 32cm x 46cm. Included are two 2" filters O-III and H-beta and a silicon moisture absorbing box.
  9. Absorbing and informative read, well researched and great presentation. A terrific way to step back into the forum Qualia
