Twins ! Charged and ready, these two will compete against each other on those dark, clear nites. I want to test them, compare them on dso's under various conditions and times, my head is full of thoughts. This kind of thing is my enjoyment, its what I like !

Many prefer 2.4 g, using it extends the connection range. I never use 5g even though I could, my SS works great on 2.4 g.

I always use the 2.4 g not the 5 g setting, not a problem and when in a longer range I use a signal booster. It seems to be working but I haven't had a good nite to give 1.13 a good run, I will try it this afternoon.

Don't give up on it, it is probably something simple, I know when I did 1.13 I had to reset the SS to get a full connection but I won't try and explain. Someone more versed will have to, lol ! Basically when I occasionally have an issue I use trial and error checking / resetting until I find the solution, it works for me, I am a technical person but not well versed in this new technology, lol !

Did you download the new update 1.13 and associated firmware ?

Supposedly with this latest update 1.13 levelling isn't even required so the need for all these levellers may be half price very soon ! LOL ! PS: I bought one didn't like how it mounted, never used it, if someone was close by I would have given it to them.

Take a look at the new update 1.13 if works as good as it sounds we are in luck, big luck !

Yes and to compare performance for consistency and operation and just have fun and who knows down the road.

I am getting a second one as well but not for the same reason ie stacking both sets .... !

A few more from the 14th, Bortle 5, SQM-L 19.45. Next time I do M37 I will only run it for about 3 min.

Tejat a red giant ! Tried it last nite for fun, its a multi star but no luck, lol !

-13° C last nite, SQM-L only 19.20, no wind at all. 4 min. on the Rossette Neb and 9-12 min. on the other 2. This SeeStar is incredibly huge save for the price !

The talk of gps and pinpointing location for best views is not considering / taking into account the distance from earth of the dso targets ie in light years, so unless one is going half way around the earth for the evening or to another hemisphere what is the concern about maybe not having a good angle of view on a given nite ! Did I miss something ?

Their concern is storing it closed up in excessively high humidity not operating it in humidity above 60%. This reasoning applies to most anything ie causes of mold, mildew etc.,etc.

Very simple, when I am out at nite with my SS I have my red light turned on just like I do with my scopes, the dim red doesn't affect my enhancing one little bit ! You have to make a big effort, try real hard to stumble over it, lol !

You are definitely having a lot more issues just to perform its basic operations than most fellow astronomers. I really don't know why, what Bortle class skies did you say you had ? Mine operates, 95% of the time, with minimal effort !

You have got to be kidding, lol ! If you have any of their products I would get rid of them immediately, lol ! But maybe it is only you that cares about this trivial ....... ! PS: Me I'm only going to see whats up there, lol !

So after all of this what do you want us, the average astronomer just looking to expand our horizons in this great hobby, to do about it ! Do we really care or am I just missing some important point ?

While you were enhancing the dumbell, you could have adjusted the contrast to a more dark background by using the adjust +- slider on the Stargazing controls page above the AF. Next time try that slider and watch how it affects the screen image and the final results. Its a nice feature that you have to work with to understand its purpose, how it functions. Nice pics by the way, the SS is amazing !

When the Orion Nebula climbs higher in my early nite skies in a couple of weeks I am going to try my 2" DGM NPB filter on it to see if there is any improvement on the trapezium area ! As it is it can't hurt.

Believe me it works on my ipad using ios 16 but now 17 is available thats why I am asking before I upgrade.

Thanx but I would like to hear from someone that has actually used a SS with their ipad using ios 17. In the past there has been the odd app that didn't get updated to the latest OS right away. With Apple you can't go back once updated !
