  1. Hi Steve I checked and reset to make sure the EAF is at 0 when focus tube is in to the max .messed about in the daytime yesterday and when focussed on far objects I had about 25mm left without the rotator so should be ok as far as tube travel now.
  2. Hi Steve that's the distances I got exactly....I tried about that distance but stars not good so that's when I tried to increase the FF to 10mm and ran out of focus tube ,I have now removed the rotator and flipped the OTA in its rings .my approx focus now gives me 25 mm of tube left to play with. Also i can rotate the OTA within the rings about 80 degrees either way if needed. I will have to wait until we finally get some clear skies as ATM I seem to be living under permanent clouds.....
  3. Thanks to all I will try without the rotator when and if we ever get a clear night lol......had the new scope 2 weeks first try last night until clouds came in.. WO quote something like 9.1 mm on the adjustment + 55mm std back focus when using the Field flattener. I tried this but stars still bad ,I also read somewhere that another user found his sweet spot at 12.5 mm on the adjuster I don't have enough focus tube left to try that , will see without the rotator.
  4. this picture may help ,please anyone with a GT 71...
  5. Just upgraded my WO scope for a WO GT 71 ,i also bought the WO Field flat 6AIII. fitted the camera and the spacers recommended to get the 55mm and then adjusted the FF to 64.1 mm as per instructions and noticed i had only 10mm of focus tube left . i finally got chance to test tonight but not have much joy. i can get a great focus curve no issues but when i try and adjust the FF and start to get near better edge stars i literally cannot use the eaf as its ran out of tube.i have no idea why .....please help i had no issues with my last WO z73 .
  6. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WQXFZN5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 i got this last year works great ,and the lead has a barrel connection that you can disconnect. oh and the size was b4. £25
  7. if you have a dig on amazon there are several sizes ,i found one that covers my 73 mm scope and my edgehd 8 ,not sure what size it is A2 maybe .....
  8. anyone got any tips on capturing decent images of the comet comet c/2022 e3 (ztf) sub length ect...what filter if any ?
  9. I use a WO z73 with the dedicated adjustable field flattener.
  10. I recently just purchased a Poseidon C Pro camera ,manged to process a couple of images but I think I may have tilt on one side . please can any one confirm this or do I just need to adjust back focus better. Guiding was very good on all the nights .5 to .6 ,not snagging cables ect. see enclosed image from ccd inspector and links to full size images. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MHSlKvlyLiS1jGrDSAS1udoHGmR9bqA5/view?usp=share_link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bzWqQiho-SZCczyN--MzJjhBh2IB1Vsl?usp=share_link
  11. if the star gods allow I will try tonight.....with the uv/ir filter.
  12. I spent ages last night trying to fine tune the settings in NINA, sometimes not always, the first run is poor or fails the second attempt normally good .99 this is after a lot of fine tuning. I double checked everything was tight on all the grub screws etc on the EAF all looks good there nothing catching or rubbing .these are the settings I finished off with ,I am open to any suggestions. the flexible coupling looks ok very even fine gaps does not look overstretched ,will get a photo later. Also I will test next time with just uv/ir cut filter in the drawer . Enclosed pics of settings and the last 2 EAF runs one after the other.
  13. Ok so finally got a lovely clear sky last night, spent the first hour trying to get the EAF curve decent which I finally did. Then when the 2 hour mark came and NINA did its autofocus run it kept failing even though I had not changed anything ,so then I spent another 40 mins trying to sort the focus out again. when I finished imaging I thought I would try the EAF again and yes it failed so today I want to try and get to the bottom of the issue .I have tried different step sizes different backlash settings and even changed the exposure times as I'm using an optolong L extreme filter at the moment. I have tried exposure times from 7 to 12 seconds. last year when I got this ZWO EAF it seemed to work fine when I hade it on the same scope I have a new camera now that's all. I think my first job is to check all the screws are nice and tight to make sure I have no slip ,I cannot seem to repeat a good curve ,just when I think ive cracked it the next run is bad. i did try setting the backlash in the driver also ,this made no difference . the image on the bottom is typical of what would happen ...always the last part went off Course if this helps.
  14. I have been looking at my focus runs and although most seem to get to about .99 of the Hyperbolic R value the curve seems a bit erratic .I have spent ages adjust backlash and step size and just when you think its spot on you get some strange curves.my question is should I set the backlash in the driver or in NINA or both ?? I had a dabble with Hocus focus and that made things worse. I also tried 3 and 4 offset steps as in the pictures. the EAF is the latest ZWO version.
  15. i got one last January its a great strong cover but the waterproof coating on the inside has broken down really badly and it lives in a garage...... so check the inside ...
  16. player one released new driver that hopefully has cured this.....waiting for some clear skies to test. first light last week with the old driver , 4 hours 92% moon L Extreme . not bad considering the moon was very close to this target. the images ive seen so far with the camera are very clean and almost noise free.
  17. sorry ive deleted all the frames from last night as they was of no use.. this may help though. https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/850937-player-one-poseidon-camera/?p=12377817
  18. link to 180s dark frame at -10 just captured with camera on scope ,taken in lit room ,no light leak and certainly no amp glow.. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Q07dwfS1NaO6jvwjXaoFPisW2Me8PC4Q?usp=share_link
  19. no amp glow whatsoever even on a 5 min dark frame...its only on lights... I see over on the cloudy nights forum there seems to be a few having the same issue and player one are now aware of this. Hopefully its a software fix.
  20. Hi please can anyone advise on this issue with my new Poseidon C Pro camera. I have a bright band across the top of my images. I have tried different targets and different filters and even swapped the filter drawer for a different one. I am using the gain of 126 on the camera as recommended offset not touched. scope has been used for the last 8 months with a zwo 533 and a canon 60d modified with no strange bands visible on any images. the only thing new is the camera. please see attached images from this evening . you can even see it although not as bad on the 3 second image . 23. What OAG can be recommended to use with edgehd 8 ,I have a loadestar X2 and I'm awaiting a new Poseidon C camera to use with it. I will be using the .7 reducer. Also will the ZWO EAF work on this setup ok ?
  24. Fair point i guess ,im going to be patient lol,,,,,yes it did normalisation as well ,in therory should be better than dss..😉
