  3. i tried a stack in PI but my image came out mono any ideas ?
  4. Hi martin many thanks for your help and advice also.i never got this much out of my attempt.i guess a filter is needed and some calibration frames .i need to start swatting up a bit. what are the vertical bands on the image ?
  5. Many thanks this is just light frames no darks, flats or bias data ,i think there is about 7 hours of raw data 180 sec subs . https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uv0I2UTKVSILPcB6trG-RD3z44XZTrsA/view?usp=sharing
  6. I have done a few galaxies to start with and have been quite pleased with results ,but im really struggling processing the data i have collected from the veil nebula .i have approx 7 hours of 3 and 5 minute subs ,i used my zenithstar z73 and modded canon 60d mounted to tuned HEQ5 pro mount. if i put a link to the folder with the light frames in would anyone be willing to look at the data for me please ,i have been using pixinsight.i don't have any dark or flats .dithered every 4 subs.all taken in bortle 4 skys taken over 4 nights. i also had a go at another the north american nebula i struggled with that as well.not sure if my data is not good but my galaxy images look very nice.... many thanks in advance.
  7. no worries ive got it sussed out now many thanks.
  8. Thanks Ady ,what i meant was when you slew and centre will it platesolve in the exact position you place the framing if that makes sense.
  9. is the tab saying slew and centre the same now ? I was watching a video tutorial and noticed my latest build of Nina just says slew and centre I'm now thinking this is the same thing . am I correct in thinking wherever I place the framing box on the target it will slew and centre on that even when platesolving ?
  10. why can I not find the recentre tab in Nina on the framing page ....what am i missing ?
  11. These fit very sung onto the bottom of the tips a lot thicker than the original ones as well . stop the metal damaging floors and carpets indoors. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07M82HQCB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  12. That sounds like a good idea.the site is 15 mins drive from mine.its a private farm. i will put scope on back seat rolled up in a small duvet, take the mount off the tripod that can then be wrapped in a large duvet in the boot along with the tripod. the other bits can go in a bag .😉
  13. Ok ive just had a proper look and hey are just slip on rubber tips .i will have a look to see if i can find any small walking stick type rubber ends for them.
  14. I use my heq5 on block paving mainly and the rubber feet have got torn to shreds, I now use something on the blocks to prevent damage again so quick ,can you get replacements for these or anything similar ? also how on earth do they come off ?
  15. arh maybe that's one then ,im guessing the smaller one goes above that into the mount then... many thanks i think you have solved my mystery...
  16. i was just clearing out some old packaging from the loft and in my heq5 pro mount box was a poly bag with a couple of stainless washers in it one about 25mm and the other about 20mm and idea where they are for ? ive tried and they could go on the stainless rod in the mount other than that ive no idea ! 🤔
  17. ok so got myself a nice bortle 4 site just a few miles from my home ,(famers garden) he will provide power as well. im unsure of the best way to transport my kit .....i normally keep it setup in the garage and carry it one piece to the back garden . i can lay my seats down if need be i have a reasonable sized car. should i just remove the scope/camera/guidescope or should i take the mount off the tripod as well ?
  18. yes works well with planets ,lunar and solar ...i got it cheap second hand and its got great optics. thank you ..
  19. Had my first go at solar this week also,WO Z73 with televue powermate 5x and canon 60D, Baader solar filter used on front of scope.all single shots on a 2 second timer no stacking just colour added in lightroom. no tracking used on mount just point and shoot. i was please with the detail that was seen inc quite a few sunspots..
