SX Superstar Mono LRGB first tests
Images added to a gallery album owned by zakky2k in Member's Album
My first light with the new Starlight Xpress guider/planetary camera. These are my attempts at using this small (6.4mm x 4.75mm sensor, 1.25" barrel enclosure) but fairly Hi-Res CCD (1392 x 1040) as an economic entry in to LRGB/Ha imaging. The Xagyl filter wheel was used with both Baader LRGB and Astrodon 3nm Ha filters. As I'm still working with an Alt/Az mount, exposure times are typically around 45 seconds and un-guided... Can't wait to move-up to an equatorial mount! -

A beautiful example of an edge on spiral galaxy. One I'm very much looking forward to imaging again when I move to an equatorial mount. -

The famous Horsehead nebula, captured using the LRGB filter set. Was going through re-processing some old data from this summer. Full exposure details to follow shortly. -
Various targets from over the past couple of years Scope: Orion 102mm f/7 Premium, Doublet APO Mount: Ioptron minitower Alt-Az Camera: Canon EOS 1D mkIII, Canon tc-80-n3 remote-control. Accesories: Some shots use the Teleview NPR-1073 0.8x Reducer / flattener

This is another target that would benefit from greater red sensitivity. -

The reduced sensitivity of my un-modded DSLR, combined with the short exposure allowed by my Alt/Az mount make this target a real challenge. -

My first attempt at Ha imaging, along with NGC0896. Luckily the Eagle nebula shines brightly in Ha, making the task of re-focusing with the Ha filter in place much quicker and more reliable. The luminance frames were weighted at 85%, reducing the signal contribution brought by the Ha frames, resulting in less apparent nebula (see my second attempt by comparison) 70x50seconds x L Ha G B = 3.8 hours exposure combined
