  1. I’ve settled on the 6se now but cheers - think I like the more solid mount for what I’m paying and put the rest toward more EPs as John suggests
  2. the 8se and 6se come with a 25mm EP ..should I get an extra one to get the best form either scope ?
  3. Out of my price range but looks fantastic
  4. I think reading this I’ll opt for the 6SE ..cheers chaps 👍🏼
  5. Thanks Peter .. I’ve read quite a bit on this and it’s very much a 50/50 argument in that the 78% light gathering advantage of the 8SE is a plus but it’s easily wobbled at the slightest touch and it’s a shame Celestron have over loaded the expensive set up that it is with an under performing mount
  6. So after much research I’ve narrowed my choice to the Nexstar 6SE or 8SE The Mrs has sanctioned my spend ! 😂 i know the 8 is more light gathering etc etc but ....is the 8SE too heavy on the SE mount and wobbly ..it’s been suggested to me the 6SE is the best most solid choice ! Any views on this folks ??
  7. Do you have the skywatcher or Celestron be interested to know your option on the 127 Mak ?
  8. That’s interesting John - however I was advised that the 6SLT was perfectly functional on the SLT
  9. Thanks but I want first hand advice , read this but doesn’t give opinion based on actual practical use ..be good to speak with someone who has the Nexstar 6 SLT ..
  10. Depends what you want to see but I was recommended the skywatcher Skymax 127 goto and also the skywatcher Nexstar 6SE in-between these price wise is the Nexstar 6SLT I personally don’t like the dobs ..too big and heavy ..I’ve had both the skywatcher 130 and 200p ..the 200p is a good scope but it’s not as much fun as the Mak 127 imo depends what you want to see and look at if it’s moon and planets the 127 got is fine if it’s dso go for the dob or the 6se
  11. Hi all, would really appreciate opinion here...so after weeks of research and help on here I’ve opted for a Nexstar 6SE .(that’s the scope for me I don’t want a dob)..however the dealer I’ve spoken to has suggested the Nexstar 6SLT which we know has a less stable mount but it’s £200 less ...I’m only into back garden observing not photography so I’m wondering if this would be a good deal and to put the £200 towards other bits. The 6SLT has the same OTA so it’s just down to whether the SE mount would make enough of a difference to warrant the spend. The dealer has openly said the SLT is not as robust but it’s perfectly functional. Amy thoughts would be appreciated.
  12. Hi all which PowerTank should I get for the skywatcher 127 Mak ? Any recommendations?
  13. Would the cheaper one be ok ..I don’t want it to control the scope just to view the stars so I can spit what I’m looking for
