  1. I've been offered a Skywatcher N200/1200 Dobsonian. Does anyone know how it differs from the current Skywatcher 200P Skyliner? Many thanks, Patrick
  2. I want to do more naked eye observing. Unfortunately, my eyesight is not great, especially in my left eye. I've been thinking that some ultra wide angle binoculars might help. Something like 2x40. I've done a little research and come up with a few options and wondered if anyone has personal experience of these? Or have suggestions for other similar binos. The ones I really fancy are the Orion 2x54, but apparently not available in UK/Europe. Available in UK: Omegon 2.1x42 £132 Vixen 21x42 £250 Kasai 2.3x40 £169 Thanks, Patrick
  3. Thanks for that. Which jump starter do you use. Do you know it's Ah ?
  4. Looking for advice on a portable power supply for an EQ5 Pro GOTO which I'm hoping to get soon. Initially for visual observing, but perhaps dabbling in imaging. I've read that leisure batteries work well. I was thinking of something like this https://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/88-ah-xplorer-leisure-battery/ With an adapter something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/KUNCAN-Cigarette-Terminal-Connector-Extension/dp/B01N2O153Z Any advice gratefully received. Patrick
  5. Many thanks for all replies\advice. I've ordered a 9x50
  6. Many thanks. I've just received a Telrad, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Planning to use the Telrad and RACI in combination.
  7. I'm planning to get Right Angle Correct Image finderscope. A 6x30 will give a wider view, but the 9x50 will "see" smaller/fainter objects. Any advice on which to buy? I'm very much a beginner astronomer.
  8. As a newbie I'd appreciate advice on a suitable mount for my Skywatcher 130 PDS. Link to 130PDS details I'm mainly interested in visually observing; not planning AP at present. I'm presently using some 7x50 binoculars and will add the 130 to observe in more detail. My garden is really terrible for observing with lots of overhanging trees and bad light pollution. So I'm in need of a grab and go solution to take to a darker location. After doing some research the Skywatcher AZ5 seems good and I can put it on a sturdy photography tripod I already own. However, I wondered if an equatorial mount (EQ5?) might be better to keep the object within view? Any advice much appreciated.
  9. I'd like to give bino viewers a try. I have a Sky-Watcher Explorer-130PDS Newtonian Reflector . Does anyone know which bino viewer would work without adaption. Would something like the Williams Optics work. Williams Optics Binoviewer Planning to use a pair of Baader 8-24mm Mk3 zoom eyepieces. Thanks, Patrick
  10. Hi folks I have a Landove spotting scope which I want to use for occasional astronomy. What’s the best way to to attach a finder scope? Would I need to glue on a shoe to attach a red dot finder? I know a spotting scope isn't ideal for astronomy.
