Dew Shield for 130PDS

Thanks. I noticed it said that a heater could be used with it, but I couldn't work out how the heater can stop dew on the secondary if it is only heating up the outside rim of the scope tube.

yer agreed ive allways put the secondry heater around the secondry but i have seen them around the tube..charl..

Heaters for around the tube are usually added to Mak's or Sct's cos they have a lens or a meniscus at the front of the scope. For a newtonian the dew heater would go on the back of the secondary mirror because the main tube is open to the elements.

why not make a dew shield. my one for the 130pds cost me £1.60 from hobbycraft. 2 sheets of a3 black foam.

made mine for the 150 from a gym mat & couple needlecraft rings bit of glue an bobs ya uncle

How long should a dew shield be, the kendrick one looks quite short compared to some I've seen?

think there is a ratio that can be followed think its 1 1/2 to 2 times the diameter but don't take my word for it someone with a bit more know how will point you in the right direction.
