Alignment and south viewing

Recommended Posts

As a beginner, advice would be greatly appreciated...

I'm using an Explorer 150P EQ3-2

I have set the latitude of my location, balanced and polar aligned the scope/mount.

What I don't understand is, how to view the southern skies? If the alignment is set to the north, I can't seem to turn the scope/mount round to view the south in an effective manner.

It does rotate, but the eyepiece is now facing the ground.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

DKG

The easy way around the spinning process is to attach a large hose clip above one

of the tube rings, this stops the tube from slipping down when you spin the tube round,

then you don't have to re-balance your scope.
