I just saw this ad on fleabay. However, the lack of item description and the "£2000 buy it now" statement makes me think this is either a scam or a stolen scope. (They sells for around $7.5k used on Astromart) Also, the seller have no history of buying or selling optics. What do people think?

Caveat Emptor indeed. That looks too good to be true which is a shame as I still have abouut 8 years to go on the wait list for a new AP scope (the larger EDF 160).

Seems someone decided £2,000 was just too much though as a bid has been placed and Buy it Now option is no longer available.

Exactly the same the same as last two times- 'please contact me here' blah blah blah

I'm posting the scammers address email here

There is also a Meade LX200, same deal http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meade-10-LX200-ACF-UHTC-Brand-New-/160840307233?pt=UK_Photography_Telescopes&hash=item2572d45221

Hmmm. So looks like 14 current items with his e-mail address in the description but the seller is different for each one. Whilst I'm not sure exactly what the nature of the scam is, you don't exactly have to be Sherlock Holmes to see that something is fishy; I'm astounded that fleabay doesn't automatically pick up on this and do something about it.

I suspect he may be using hacked ebay accounts. A lot of those seller have several years of seller history, it'd be strange a scammer will spend so many years building up an account for one scam.

What is remarkable is some of the listing individuals have a high feedback score (the Meade LX200 is 461 feedbacks with 98.7% positive in last 12 months). Not what you normally see with scam listings.

Yep, that's what it looks like to me...
