Could anybody tell me the weight of the above scope OTA please.

6.62 kg with no finder and no diagonal fitted

I think I do, the scope will be mounted on a equatorial mount if this makes a difference I don't know?

mine goes on an eq5 but the point im making is regarding balance, all the weight is up front on this model

Yes I understand now, how do you manage or is there a way of compensating.

i need to get some different screws for the dovetail and then i can move it back a little, it will help but will still be nose heavy, if you are looking at getting this scope you are best putting it on an eq5 if poss

Thanks Nightfisher I will be putting it on a Viven SP Mount which is rated to carry just over 7kg's, I have been told that the st150 is 6.5 kg's.

have you seen a 150 up close, when i bought mine i was surprised at just how large it is, in hind sight i think i would have got the 120mm

Hi Nightfisher the greater light gathering power of the 150 is worth it. over the 120

Since it is not a scope for very high magnification it can be relatively under-mounted, I would say. It makes an appealing deep, fairly wide field instrument.

Thats what I use mine for. Deep sky and as the name implies, when I'm travelling.

Love mine....... although I did find it benefitted from a retro fit of a Crayford focuser.

Yes the crayford up grade is a really good idea, mine could really do with it, maybe next year

My focuser is in good nick and really smooth. Cant say the same for the C100ED, now that really does need a focusser upgrade. I'm looking to get a moonlight in the future that will fit both!
