It's confirmed, I like my new mount.

Oooooh it's a beast is this HEQ5 8)

Saw a bank of mist rolling in from the west so had to hurriedly set up to try the mount.

Got it pretty near to the pole star but then remembered I hadn't checked the reticule

alignment ( turns out its a bit off) so a very rough polar align.

Stuck my 200mm F6 on it and tweaked up the balance. Nice and solid grip of the scope

with non of the usual wobbles.

What a joy to have motors on both axis, no more trying to find the DEC knob in the dark.

Little or no overshoot and a quick response on both drives, good enough me thinks to try some

manual guiding in another session.

Anyway, stuck in the Toucam at prime focus and shot a dozen 30 second exposures.

Only two of these showed any signs of running off track 8).

Resulting Registax'd image below of M42 core region.

Very pleased indeed, a totally different animal to the EQ5 :rolleyes:
