Double Piggy Back or Side by Side

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I have a NEQ6 mount,which happily takes a celestron Omni 120mm Refactor,with a celestron 80ED piggy backed on top.Total weight is 18.5lbs.(Imaging scope).

I want to add a Skywatcher Startravel 80 (F4) to use as a guide scope.I think these scopes are quite light, and i am thinking of piggy backing this onto my Celestron 80,so basically 2 scopes piggy-backed onto the Omni 120.

Do you think this would be OK of should i go down the road of an ADM side by side bar.

These cost about £150,and i dont want to spend this sort of money lightly.

I would be grateful for your thoughts on this.

mick.

For that amount of hardware I'd seriously consider the side by side bar; you could have the 120 on one side and the ED80/st80 on the other.

I use a SBS bar with a 4" Genesis and a 6" f3.5 Schmidt Newtonian on the NEQ6pro occasionally - no issues.
