This is probably going to appear as a stupid question and I apologize in advance but I really need some MAJOR help in finding the correct mm eyepieces to use for Planetary, solar system, Nebula etc to view objects with. My scope came with a 10 mm, 25mm

Sorry to jump in, expect D-R is typing as I am.

1400 will be the focal length.

150 the objective diameter.

The 10mm will dive 140x mag, (1400/10)

The 25mm will give 56x mag, (1400/25)

The 10mm if any good will be fairly decent for planets, 140x is fine.

If the 10mm eyepiece is not good, then you will have to buy something else, that depends on budget, but GSO plossl's are fair. Perhaps a 12mm to give a bit less magnification, 116x (1400/12).

For DSO's you need to get the gathered light into something a bit smaller so that it stands out, so look for something to give say 80x meaning a 16-17mm eyepiece.

The 25 should be good for the wider views of clusters etc.

Perhaps as time and budget allow a 14mm to fill in between 12 and 16.

Stick a location for yourself in your signature and someone may be close enough to lend you a couple to try out. I have 25+ eyepieces and if you were 2 doors away I wouldn't know.
