A nibble at M101

This was my last target from last nights session. It was getting on a bit (I could hear birds already), so I took the decision to 2x2 bin my RGB subs. Guiding was a little more difficult on this one, maybe becuase I snagged the dec axis with my arm while fumbling about in the dark (doh!).

For the L subs, I decided to completely do away with LP filters. And to my surprise, I was able to get 10 min subs without any major wash-out. It certainly makes a case for not relying on LP filters so much.

Its not exactly a world beater, but its a start. I will return to it for extra L and colour unbinned.

M101

ED80, Atik314L+, 50mm finderguider

8x600(L) 4x300(R,G,B 2x2 bin)

Guiding hassles: Moderate (cloud & some backlash)

Thanks for looking! :)
