HEQ Mount for Skyliner 200P?

Is it possible to use an HEQ5 mount for a Skyliner 200P or is an HEQ6 better?

I think the general recommendation is "at least" an HEQ5, or an EQ6 if you can afford one.

I had fully planned on putting mine on an HEQ5.

Yes, you will be alright with that combination.

A good guide is on FLO look at the Stand alone OTA,s and see what mounts are listed. HQ5 is there.

I just came across this thread and was interested in which mount you decided to go for. I too have a Skyline 200p Dob, which is amazing, but I am interested in possibly upgrading the mount to an equatorial. However I have heard that as the 200p is quite big an equatorial mount may not be practical?

Nope a 200p fits an HEQ5 just fine

The 200P dob version is 200mm longer Malcolm but I agree a HEQ5 may be OK for visual use if the OTA is well balanced.

i am sure the heq5 will be fine,i have the shorter imaging 200pds on mine,if you can afford the eq6 then it would make sense

I'm just getting into astronomy, and so far enjoy using it with a Dob mount. However I am starting to come along to the idea of trying some basic astrophotography perhaps with a webcam so am starting to think about changing mounts in the long term. That said I have heard that some limited photography might be possible with a dob?

sorry to butt in on this thread but the 200p seems to come well recommended, what the differences between this one and the flex tube please? confused here!!
