I saw nothing. But......

Aircraft don't always display flashing lights. You often pick up only the port & starboard (red & green) wingtip lights. Two planes on the same heading, a reasonable distance apart, presenting the right sort of angle would show as two red lights.

Civil airliners tend to travel alone at up to 35000 ft at about 500 to 550 mph (roughly). Military aircraft can go much higher (50000ft) and often go a lot faster.

Does this sound a reasonable explanation?
