First image of the moon (terrible)

Recommended Posts

I don't actually have a scope yet (still deciding!), however I have taken several shots of the moon direct with my EOS 500. I would agree with the advice given about fast shutter speeds, use Shutter Priority mode (Tv on Canon) and start with say 1/8 second and work from there. Also use timer mode (or remote shutter release) and the mirror lock up function if you have one to avoid vibration. I would also recommend using spot metering and taking a reading from a shadow on a crater (but experiment first).
