Canon EOS Utility software

Hi.

I connected my Canon 1000d camera to my laptop the other night using the above software that came with the camera, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to take a picture with it, I am being very dumb here or is it just for show?! :)

I've just connected it up... In the top right hand corner there's an odd looking circle, that's a shutter button, next to the count and battery condition meter

Thanks John. I've tried clicking it, but nothing happens. I notice that box next to the 'shutter button' is white, on mine it is red!

I think that is supposed to simulate the activity light on the camera... red meaning it's busy... what shows on the camera display ?

I have just plugged my 500d and the red light means that it is set to self-timer and will not operate. You need to choose either single or continuous shooting.

Ah, right. I had the timer set to 10 seconds before I was taking pics to eliminate and tripod/ota shaking. Perhaps if I disable it, it will work.

The PDF on the cd is very useful... If memory serves, the red light is mirror lock up, but I may be wrong...
