Grinding Gears

I have a Sky-Watcher MAK127 on the AZ GOTO mount. I'm saving for a powertank and at the moment run it from the supplied battery holster. Even on brand new batteries at a certain point of the sweep the whole thing seems very laboured and grinding. I'm new to this and nervous about dismantling the mount but would like it to run smoother.

Any suggestions, please?

im not a 100% though ive a friend who has same mount they not run well on battarys any way geta small lesure battery prob iron out these grinding problems aswell

I've run my SW102 Mak on batteries ok. even when the batteries are running down the motor noise doesn't change it just goes slower. Which axis does it have problems with?
